Selune (Moon) (SAY LUNE EH)

The larger and brighter of Sanzeia's two moons. It is alternatingly said to be the home of or the embodiment of the largely benevolent goddess Selune. This moon is much larger than Lyndranel's Kythir and there are references to the goddess of the Moon Elves bearing a grudge against Selune for the slight.
Tradition holds that the moon's cycles correspond to the waxing and waning of the moon goddesses' power. Selune makes a complete cycle from light to dark every 20 days.

History

According to the myth "The Coming of Selune" Kythir was once Sanzeia's only moon and Selune a refugee from another place. The tale recounts a relationship between the new moon goddess and Calowean that ended unpleasantly with Selune being placed in the sky between closest to Sanzeia either as an insult to Lyndranel or as protection from the amorous sun god.
