Lyndranel (LIN DRA NELL)

Mother Moon, the Night Walker, the Dark Goddess

The gray-skinned, fair-haired night goddess of the Moon Elves is said to be the mother of the elven race. Lyndranel is direct rival of her brother, the god, Calowean, and most of the tales of them center around which deity is able to gain advantage over the other. The exact nature of the goddess is difficult to pin down as she is at time portrayed as cold and harsh and at times serene and caring. She is closely associated with the minor gods Ciuna and Akion who manage a keep the peace between the gods of the Sun and the Moon. Lyndranel is said to reside in a massive palace of black crystal on the dark moon Kythir where she watches and sees all things that mortals attempt to hide under the cover of night. After -1260 DR, worship of Lyndranel was outlawed within the Himsean Republic and her followers exiled to settle the The Yvalian Empire.

  • various symbols of stars, moths and dragonflies
  • Tenets of Faith

The tenants and rituals of faith in Lyndranel are closely guarded by her Moonpriestesses and rarely shown to outsiders. It is clear from the outside that the faith in closely tied to the rivalry between the Yvalian Empire and the Himse Republic.

    Holidays

Lyndranel presides over the darkest month of the Dywdian Calendar, Daekyl. The winter solstice on the 19th of the month is considered her high holy day.

    Physical Description

    General Physical Condition

Lyndranel typically appears in visions as a Moon Elven woman of exceptional beauty and impossibly long silver hair that trails like a river as she moves. She is said to possess kind and motherly features, though her anger and scorn can be terrible to behold.

    Apparel & Accessories

Texts describe the goddess as alternately being clothed only in darkness, moonlight, stars, or her own silver hair. The few available Yvalian sources frame this as a thing of wonder and beauty. Himsean texts meanwhile focus on her near nudity as a sign of moral decay and wanton behavior.
