Divinities

The Gods of Sanzeia are very real things. In ages past they were said to walk the world in the flesh and fight both against and alongside mortal races and this practice ended with the Age of Myth. In the tales, the gods are frequently known to take the shapes of mortal and do not seem limited to one shape, race, or even gender. If the gods still continue to walk among the people of Sanzeia they have become much more subtle for reasons unknown.   Broadly speaking, the gods of Sanzeia fall into three major categories:
  • Greater deities: members of the Thirteen the most powerful gods that were said to have formed the world of Sanzeia out of the chaos of the beginning of time.
  • Lesser deities: beings of power that have their own cults and churches, most are loyal to at least one of the Thirteen in some way. Though there also exist strange gods that exist outside the ordering and are worshiped by strange cults and savage races.
  • Demigods: Tradition holds that many of the greatest heroes of the Age of Myth were part divine, weather this was a result of parentage or the gift of power varies. Some of the demigods are said to be immortal and ascended to the heavens to rule with the gods proper. As there is no test for divinity, this is a highly contentious category.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Most divinities tend to manifest at least partially as a member of race that worships them most strongly. While not strictly true, divinities are typically perfect specimens of their respective races and possess all of the qualities that would make them most appealing.  This appears to be a purposeful creation as the gods are equally capable of appearing innocuous.

Genetics and Reproduction

Gods are fully capable of creating their own offspring both magically and carnally. If the tales of the Age of Myth are true, the gods are also capable of breeding with mortals of any race.

Growth Rate & Stages

There no know tales of either immature gods or gods dying of avanced age.

Additional Information

Social Structure

The gods of Sanzeia exist in a formal hierarchy the resembles a feudal state. Ulmark, the Worldshaper is the head of the pantheon, and orders all the gods beneath him.  Lesser gods swear allegiance to more powerful ones in return for favor.   Some gods exist outside the ordering, but they tend to be fringe divinities of limited power and scope.

Civilization and Culture

History

The origins of the divines is unclear. The most important gods such as the Thirteen are said to have come from places beyond the sky. Among the lesser divines, many are children of other gods, while others are said to have come from the land of Sanzeia, or appeared spontaneously.
