Session 005: Report

General Summary

Having finished your brief stint of less-than-honest work, you decided to catch up with Rufio, to inquire about more work and possible leads on the case of the Hargani orb. You were sadly too late for the assignment promised, which was taken days ago by Nine-Claws and her crew.   You did however receive an invitation from one Sir Kandu of House Ingon, one of the local noble families. You were asked to make your appearance and discuss your recent assignment of recovering the orb for Kandu's grandfather, Lord Ophin Ingon.   Confounded but eager to make a good impression, you followed up on Rufio's advice, and you took some time to ponder your identity as a group. Suggestions were thrown around, and many were rejected before you settled upon a worthy name for your group - The Obsidian Ancestry.   With newfound inspiration and a strengthened sense of camaraderie, you made preparations to meet with Sir Kandu. You acquired appropriate clothing and finery, finished with obsidian jewelry to tie your group together.   You joined Kandu at the Ingon family mansion, vacated of most of its ornaments and servantfolk. You learned that the master of the house—your most recent customer, Lord Ophin—had recently become reclusive, and spent much of the family wealth on some newfound obsession. Kandu wanted to know anything you could tell about the job, as his grandfather was unwilling to talk about the subject.   Your discussion was cut short as you were alerted to noises coming from Lord Ophin's study upstairs. You followed the young noble with great haste, and were met with a grisly scene of Lord Ophin, dead on the floor of his study, drained of life. Just as you entered the room, you witnessed the visage of the shadowy figure from the tomb—The Guardian—before it disappeared into the haze. Snarling creatures of smoke and ash emerged from the ritual brazier and attacked you.   You disposed of the creatures, and after a brief investigation left the scene to be handled by the new master of the house. Though you were now implicated in a noble's murder, Kandu assured you he would vouch for you during the The Gilded Hand's investigation. With that, you left the Patrician Ward to process the day's events.
