Saltmarsh Militia

Town Guards

Led by Eliander Fireborn, these one hundred or so trained warriors serve as protection throughout Saltmarsh and the outlying pastoral communities on horseback.
Acting on the King's authority, there are not thought of overfondly by the traditionalists or other locals, more often seeing them as meddlesome or roughians. The citizens are quick to call them when trouble arises, however.
Each of the guards wears leather armor, or chain mail armor when patroling outside the city and are armed with clubs. They can be recognized by their badges depicting the green reed of Saltmarsh.
In addition to the guards, a militia of roughly 500 citizens can be mustered to take up defense of the town in case of an assault.

Marines

A small force of marines complements the town guards, focussing on protecting and patroling the docks. If needed, they also take to the sea to meet the threat of pirates or monstrous incursions. They are all hardened veterans, having survived multiple encounters with the Sea Princes. The marines are led by married couple Tom and Will Stoutly.
