Faithful Quartermasters of Iuz
The Faithful Quartermasters of Iuz are both a religious order and subjects of the theocratic Empire of Iuz. They say that their Emperor is Iuz himself, a great demigod who rules much of the very distant north. To most in Saltmarsh this means nothing.
What it does mean in Saltmarsh is coin, and lots of it. The Empire of Iuz does not produce enough food to feed all of its citizens, so it relies on imports from more bountiful lands.
These emissaries of Iuz pay upon receipt of goods and are buying entire shiploads of fish at a time, so most folks stifle their questions and concerns about these rather macabre religious traders.
To many a Salt, the Faithful Quartermasters of Iuz are the best kind of farfolk: they keep their beliefs to themselves but are generous with their gold. So it is only prudent that one's eyes tend not to linger on all of the jewelry and flags sporting the motif of a skull with ruby eyes and teeth.
