Devil Lord
Devil Lord is a title given to the Devil gods and goddesses that command each of the layers of The Nine Hells.
Requirements
Only devils can claim this title, though any devil is capable of doing so.
Appointment
Devil Lords are decided by strength, either arcane or physical or both. A Devil Lord must overthrow a current Devil Lord to claim this title, either by killing the current title holder or by forcing them into submission, though the latter is an extremely rare event.
Responsibilities
Devil Lords are responsible for maintaining a semblance of order over their layer of the Nine Hells, along with any other layers they may be in charge of. They must also maintain a powerful image as to prevent any attempts to overthrow them, along with needing to defend themselves from any such attacks.
Benefits
Becoming a Devil Lord gives one complete authority over all the devils in the layer they control, along with any lower layers. This authority is oftentimes subverted by those who wish to claim the title themselves, though only the most powerful are capable of this.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Death or submission to another devil are grounds for removal.
