Quarterling

Quarterlings are the offspring of a Halfling and another species, most commonly Human.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Quarterlings are relatively rare, due to the near certainty that birthing a Quarterling would be fatal for a Halfling mother, and often the baby doesn't survive long either. In male Halfling/ female Human pairings, the mortality rate is far lower, however, Quarterlings still tend to be sickly, with a weakened resilience and immune system.   Although it is not unheard of for Quarterlings to be able to reproduce, with Humans, Halflings or most successfully with other Quarterlings, many Quarterlings are completely infertile.
