Draconic Pantheon

(For Bahamut as he is worshiped outside the Draconic Pantheon see Bahamut)   The Draconic Pantheon has perhaps the longest and most interesting history of all pantheons and cult worshipped by the humanoid races. The history of the Draconic Pantheon is known to date back to the Age of Titans, when Dragons and giants ruled Runetalras, it was in this Age when the High Empire of the Dragons is first known to have venerated the Draconic Pantheon; Dragons of Runetalras are keen to point out that they do not truly worship anything, but rather venerate powerful dragons from myth and history the actual difference between the two is unclear.   The Dracoplague and subsequent fall of the High Empire of the Dragons ended the domination of dragons over Runetalras, but the influence of Draconic Pantheon did not likewise fade. Dragons maintained their veneration of the Draconic Pantheon, and the draconic-humanoids - Dragonborn, half dragons, kobolds, lizardmen, and draconians still continue their worship of the Draconic Pantheon. Indeed the Draconic Pantheon is the official state religion of Infernal-Draconic Ascendancy. The worship of two of the most important deities of the Draconic Pantheon, Bahamut and Tiamat, have earned worshipers as their own deities outside of the context of the Draconic Pantheon.   The Faithful of the Draconic Pantheon believe that the deity IO, also known as Asgorath, created the material plane. After the creation of the material plane a deity-like power, known as the Void, passed into the material plane and sowed discord and death. IO sought to destroy this Void, but failed in their effort. IO was killed and sundered in two, from one half was born Bahamut and the other Tiamat; in their first and last act of cooperation Bahamut and Tiamat forced the Void back into the Far Realms.   The various sects within the faithful of the Draconic Pantheon have varyingly different views of the creation of dragons and the draconic-humanoid races. Some contend that dragons were born of the blood of IO that fell to Runetalras, while others that Bahamut, Tiamat, and Sardior created the metallic, chromatic, and gem dragons respectively. For draconic-humanoids the same two myths hold sway, but so too does another one, that dragons themselves created the draconic-humanoid races. The faithful additionally disagree on the origin of the other deities of the Draconic Pantheon; some contend it was not the dragons or draconic-humanoids that were born from IO’s blood but the other deities, another group that Bahamut, Tiamat, and later Sardior created the other deities, still other contend that the other deities of the Draconic Pantheon were once mortal dragons that obtained progressed past the status of Greatwyrms into godhood. It is unclear what if any of these often conflicting and mutually exclusive myth are true, but all are widely believed,   Regardless of how dragons and draconic-humanoid races came into being, as a whole dragons and the draconic-humanoids believe themselves to be exceptional compared to the other races, as it is they, not them, who are created in the image of the divine.

IO

(Eye-owe) Alignments: Neutral, Lawful Neutral Domains: Grave, Knowledge, life, Order   Symbol: A multicoloured metallic disk   Asgorath/IO is believed to be the creator of the material plane of existence, the draconic deities, dragons, and draconic-humanoids. The faithful of the Draconic believe that IO was sundered in two by the Void, a deity-like power from the Far Realms. From the sundered corpse the deities Bahamut and Tiamat were born. Strangely, even though IO is widely believed to be a dead power it is able to grant clerics and priests the power to cast spells.   As the de jure head of the Draconic Pantheon IO receives some level of worship or veneration from every follower of the Draconic Pantheon.   IO has no consistent depiction.

Bahamut

(Bah-ham-mut) Alignments: Lawful Evil, Chaotic Evil, Neutral Evil, Lawful Neutral Domains: Flame, Death, Light, Order, Trickery, War   Symbol: Dragon's head in profile   Bahamut, along with Tiamat, are the most important deity within the Draconic Pantheon. The faithful of the Draconic Pantheon believe that Bahamut was born out of one half of IO, a creator deity, when it was sundered in two; the other half creating Tiamat.   Bahamut is worshipped and venerated as the patron deity of metallic dragons and Dragonborn, and as a deity of justice, protection, honour, and a force of good amongst the Draconic Pantheon. The faithful of the Draconic Pantheon believe that Bahamut to be a beacon of all that is good in Runetalras, and empowers clerics and priests to protect the weak and uphold law.   Bahamut is believed to be locked in an eternal conflict with Tiamat for the nature of dragons and draconic-humanoids.   Bahamut like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a platinum greatwyrm, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with platinum scales.

Tiamat

(Tier-mat) Alignments: Lawful Good, Chaotic Good, Neutral Good Domains: Flame, Life, Light, Order, Peace, Twilight, War   Symbol: Five heads of the most common chromatic dragons, those being black, blue, green, red, and white   Tiamat along with Bahamut, are the most important deity within the Draconic Pantheon. The faithful of the Draconic Pantheon believe that Tiamat was born out of one half of IO, a creator deity, when it was sundered in two; the other half creating Bahamut.   Tiamat is worshipped and venerated as the patron deity of chromatic dragons and Dragonborn, and as a deity of vengeance, power, and greed. There is a dichotomy within the worship of Tiamat among the draconic-humanoid, those who pursue the less harmful aspects of taking just vengeance, obtaining rightful power, and enjoy the embetterment that can come from the actuation of wealth, strength and power, and those who embrace a more shameful and perhaps evil associated with cut-throat greed, vengeance and power. It is perhaps because even the most evil who devote themselves to Tiamat can dress their devotion up in a socially acceptable manner, and the importance of Tiamat to the faith of the Draconic Pantheon that worship to her is as widespread as the Draconic Pantheon itself.   Tiamat is believed to be locked in an eternal conflict with Bahamut for the nature of dragons and draconic-humanoids.   Unlike most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon Tiamat is oft depicted only in a Dragon form, as a unique chromatic greatwyrm, who has one head for each primary colour of the most common species of chromatic dragons (black, blue, green, red, and white).

Sardior

(Sar-dor) Alignments: Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral, Chaotic Evil Domains: Flame, Life, Trickery   Symbol: A ruby gem   Sardior is worshipped and venerated as the patron deity of gem dragons and gem Dragonborn, as well as a deity of outcasts. Sardoir does not receive much worship within the Draconic Pantheon, by nature of it being a deity of outcasts. There is a myth within the Draconic Pantheon that all gem dragons are a shard of Sardior, and once united Sardior will be reborn in the material plane.   Sardior like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a Ruby greatwyrm, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with ruby scales.

Astilabor

(Ah-still-a-bore) Alignments: Neutral, Lawful Neutral, Lawful Evil, Chaotic Neutral, Chaotic Evil Domains: Knowledge, Trickery   Symbol: A twelve-faceted gem   Astilabor is primarily worshipped and venerated as a deity of wealth, trade, and craftsmanship, but is also worshipped and venerated as a deity of greed and hoarding. This dichotomy leads to greatly contrasting views of Astilabor, with those closely connecting her to wealth, trade, and craftsmanship viewing her as a positive deity of the creation of wealth; while those who connect her more to greed and hoarding view her as a negative drain on others.   Astilabor like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a greatwyrm with gold, silver, and topaz scales, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with gold, silver, and topaz scales.

Garx

(Gar-axe) Alignments: Chaotic Evil, Neutral Evil, Chaotic Neutral, Neutral Domains: Death, Flame   Symbol: A reptilian eye superimposed over a red flame   Garx is worshipped and venerated as a deity of destruction, fire, and rebirth through disaster. The faithful of the Draconic Pantheon believe Garx to be a cruel, capricious, and even evil deity, although this has not stopped worship and veneration to the deity, as there are many of the faithful in need of fire and destruction. There are a few among the faithful of the Draconic Pantheon that view Garx as a good deity of rebirth, being ignorant of much of the lore surrounding Garx and the rest of the Draconic Pantheon in doing so.   Garx like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a red greatwyrm with a few scales from the other chromatic dragons, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with primary red scales amongst scales of the other chromatic dragons.

Hlal

(Hu-al) Alignments: Chaotic Neutral, Chaotic Good, Chaotic Evil Domains: Forge. Trickery   Symbol: An open book   Hlal is worshipped and venerated as a deity for inventiveness, humour, and pleasure. While these portfolios may seem disconnected to most humanoid races they are akin to the dragons; inventiveness, humour, and pleasure are all indulgences that dragons enjoy which Hlal being a symbol of relic of the mindset of dragons. The view of Hlal as an indulgence is not held by many of the humanoid races who pay worship to the Draconic Pantheon, with many of them viewing inventiveness, humour, and pleasure as core to their lives. Those who pay worship to Hlal are a diverse group, craftsmen and artisans, poets and playwrights, whores and romantics.   Hlal like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a copper greatwyrm, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with copper scales.

Kereska

(Care-s-car) Alignments: Neutral, Chaotic Neutral Domains: Arcana   Symbol: A pentagram over a Dragon   Kereska is worshipped and venerated as a deity of magic and the arcane. Kereska is viewed by the faithful of the Draconic Pantheon as an uncaring force of nature, who is just as likely to destroy one with magic as she is to grant clerics magic. Worship to Kereska is not uncommon, as there are a great deal of individuals who seek domination over magic despite the risks associated with magic and the wrath of Kereska.   Kereska like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as an ethereal arcane greatwyrm, secondly as a draconic-humanoid made of ethereal arcane energy.

Null

(Null) Alignments: Neutral, Lawful Evil, Chaotic Evil Domains: Death, Grave, Trickery, War   Symbol: A draconic skull   Nul is a deity of duality, they are worshipped and venerated both as a deity of death and murder, but also as a deity who protects the dead and carries souls to the afterlife. As such, some view Null as an evil deity who instils the desire to reap death and sow destruction, whereas others of the faithful view Null as a more neutral deity and guardian of the soul.   Null, like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a Black greatwyrm, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with black scales.

Tamara

(Tay-mar-ra) Alignments: Chaotic Good, Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Neutral Domains: Life, Nature, Tempest   Symbol: A seven-pointed star on a field of black   Tamara is worshipped and venerated as a deity of mercy, healers, life. It is considered rare for dragons to venerate Tamara, however, the worship of Tamara amongst draconic-humanoids is far more common; perhaps as the result of draconic-humanoids having to maintain more close knit societies. Tamara is viewed as a gentle and caring deity, and almost a matriarchal figure, although the faithful are willing to resort to violence when they believe that it will save more life or achieve a beneficial outcome.   There is an alternate aspect of Tamara, where she is instead viewed as the shear force of nature, in both the positive life affirming aspect and violent and life taking component of nature.   Tamara like most of the deities of the Draconic Pantheon has two popular depictions; firstly as a multicoloured metallic greatwyrm, secondly as a draconic-humanoid with scales the colours of all the metallic dragons.
