Session 13: Onwards? Report

General Summary

October 26th, 1916 P.M.E, Khuldahar, The Runeweald

As night falls, the expedition determines where to go next. They have received a map of the region from the druids of Khuldahar, but Tiwaz-Katalbuyk (Rest at Journey's End) is nowhere in sight. While Goswin and Gelmir mull over the map, the party decides to visit Archdruid Gaeldir, the sage of the vale.

First, they inquire about Rest at Journey's End and Gaeldir attempts to scry the location. Instead of seeing the Dwarven city, Gaeldir sees a dark forest dominated by a hooded figure wearing a bronze mask. Gaeldir tries to evade the figure and finds himself escaping to a plane of dimensionless white. After some time he finds himself at the entrance of Girt Fut (Tunnel Four). Upon stepping inside the tunnel he enters a greyscale city. A large clock tower dominates the city skyline. Everyone seems to be in a rush, constantly glancing down at their pocket watches and looking back at the tower. Before returning to the real world Gaeldir noted a tinkerer's shop called "The Price of Punctuality".   Llobh also asks Gaeldir to scry an entity called "Kar'Gomun" in Karak Mhornalhune (Hold of the Shadowmoon). Gaeldir says that he is at endless war with the inhabitants of Karak Mhornalhune and it would seem that both sides are raising armies. Gaeldir is unable to determine who or what Kar'Gomun's adversary is, noting that it is easier to scry extraplanar beings as their presence is anomalous in the material world.   Polis stays behind as the rest of the party heads back to their guest house. He tells Gaeldir of his ailment, two souls fused into one body by the will of Crom. Gaeldir tells Polis that due to Crom's unpredictable nature and divine power his best path forward is to embrace the chaos. It will be impossible to control so he must learn how to make peace with it.   That night Polis decides to embrace the voices in his head and in his dreams is transported to a cosmic maelstrom of chaos. Polis remains meditative despite the surrounding mayhem. Eventually, he reaches out into the cosmos, his outstretched hand is fused with the Dusk Blade of Regret. The chaos subsides and Polis finds himself in an endless plane of blackness. A mirror image of himself breaks off and begins to walk away toward a white portal. Polis gives chase and rejoins himself with the figure. Polis awakens.

October 27th, 1916 P.M.E, Rhun Karaz, The Runeweald

The party awakens from their slumber and gathers their gear, heading south into the mountains. After hours of tiresome climbing, the night begins to fall and the party looks for a place to rest. As the alpine snowfall begins to intensify Ezekiel spots a small cave to take cover in for the night. One Khagmadog's watch, he notices a strange protrusion in the cavern wall. As he goes to touch it his arm passes through it. He wakes the party and enters through the illusory door into an ancient Dwarven mausoleum. The Grand Sarcophagus in the center of the room reads "Glumlim the Flusher, Fourth King of Tiwaz-Katalbuyk". After reading the inscription a ghostly spirit appears. It stares wearily upon the illusory wall, unaware of the presence of the party. The presence of Gotrek snaps him out of his daze. After much conversation, Glumlim provides the party with information about the following with the exception that they destroy the "dark-entity" that has cursed him and release his soul to the realm of Dwarfhome to rest with his ancestors.
  • A ritual that has been cast on him leading to his spirit being stuck in the material plane
  • A bit of history relating to Tiwaz-Katalbuyk during his reign
  • A riddle alluding to the location of Tiwaz-Katalbuyk
  • And anything else you may have written down ;)
