Session 11: The Quest for the Map Report
General Summary
October 25th, 1916 P.M.E, Khuldahar, Runeweald
The party awoke from their respite and tended to their wounds within the safety of the Hometree. The druids of Khuldahar have proven to be gracious hosts. Zudikhal summoned a hearty breakfast feast while the party gathered their things and started to plan out their day. It was decided another day of rest would be needed if they were to stand any chance against someone (or something) as prestigious as the Scarlet Shiekh. Before breakfast came to an end Archivist Orimnok Vakrulson and High King Gotrek Gurnisson were summoned by the druids to partake in a ritual to establish peace between the Hazkal dwarves and the Druids of Khuldahar.During this day of respite...
Ezekiel wandered the vast network of spires and bridges eventually heading up two stories to find the quartermaster, one of the three archdruids named Rannor. Initially, Rannor was stand-offish, but as the conversation progressed (and the knowledge that Ezekiel was carrying Crimson Denars) he warmed up to the idea of selling some of his magical and utilitarian arrows to Ezekiel. As a result, Ezekiel was given three arrows of major grappling as a gift and bought an Arrow of Reptile Slaying. Khagmadog followed a similar path as Ezekiel and eventually ended up at Rannor's precarious workshop. Rannor and Khagmadog bonded over the craft of weaponsmithing and eventually, Rannor offered to teach Khagmadog how to enchant arrows. Ezekiel managed to integrate himself into this lesson as well. Ezekiel learned how to create Arrows of Seeking, and Khagmadog learned how to create Arrows of Avoidance. Mores, Jordis & Llobh asked a couple of dueling initiates where they could learn more about the surrounding area and the Scarlet Shiekh. The initiates told them to go to Gaeldir's Library. They eventually found it and entered. The library was a tall chamber with a large atrium. Balconies wrapped around the walls for four stories. On every wall was a full shelf of books. In the center of the atrium sat an orb perched atop a pedestal. An owl was nested on the top balcony. Jordis tried to find a book about the Scarlet Shiekh but they were all written in a strange language. Eventually, Llobh goes to touch the orb, but the owl aggressively swooped down toward him. Before the owl struck the ground it shifted into an elderly elven man. The man introduced himself as Gaeldir, one of the three archdruids of Khuldahar. The party proceeded to query Gaeldir about all kinds of lore. Llobh asks him what he knows of a Wastrilith called Kar'Gomun that resides in Karak Mhornalhune. He responds that he hasn't heard any tidings of a Wastrilith, but he does recall a group of drow who called themselves the Knights of the Vengeful Banshee entering Ironlight three months ago saying that they were headed to Karak Mhornalhune. eventually asking him about the Scarlet Shiekh. He gazed into his orb to learn more about the Scarlet Shiekh but was overtaken by writhing pain and collapsed, shifting back into an owl. Jordis carried the unconscious owl back up to its nest. Afterward, Mores, Jordis, and Llobh met up with Ezekiel, Khagmadog, and Rannor.October 26th, 1916 P.M.E, Khuldahar, Runeweald
The party readies themselves for battle. Goswin and Gelmir stay behind to scope out a contingent plan that involves stealing the map in case the Scarlet Shiekh thing turns out to be a bust. Ezekiel, Jordis, Khagmadog, Llobh, and Mores travel across the river and into the Scarlet Savanna. There is only one path to follow and it doesn't seem to make any geographical sense. The path looped between identical locations and at random veers off in a new direction. The party stumbled upon a bust of an elven figure wearing a crown of olive branches. The inscription on the bust read Ablad-Lasseben. Shortly after encountering the statue, they find a tattered campsite. The firepit still has warm embers, but each of the five tents is abandoned with only a single item left in each. Jordis took a rotting holy canon of Oghma as well as a dated gold crown. Llobh took a tattered pan flute from one of the tents. Moving on from the campsite the party entered a dense forest that eventually turned into a small alcove. In the center of the alcove was a large tree with a human face carved into its stump. Shortly after examining the tree, everyone in the party succumbed to sudden searing pain in the head, falling unconscious from the excruciating experience.
