Caripearl

The kingdom of Caripearl is technically two kingdoms joined together. The surface kingdom of Caripearl ruled by Lord Galewhir, and the aquatic city of Nerina ruled by Admiral Reefwall. Nerina resides in the gulf in Caripearl's territory, and they have lived together in peace for ages. Together they have one of the strongest navies on Rugofen. Even their capital reflects this bond, having more canals than Venice and having the capital building be a half submerged tower.

Caripearl

The surface kingdom of Caripearl is still tied to the sea. Even before the joining of Nerina, they were navally focused. The name was chosen for the abundance of pearls in the gulf, which gave the young kingdom great wealth. The sea also provided them other bounties, such as fish, salt and whale oil. Soon, a full on mercantile kingdom grew around the scattered towns hunting for their fortune. The arrival of Nerina has only further boosted their wealth, as the merfolk can dive deeper than the land dwellers, and know how to best harvest the sea. They can find value in things the surface people would have missed, like how a certain kind of kelp makes great rope or how to open tightly shut clams 

Nerina

Within the gulf of Caripearl, refugees of a deeper merfolk city fled to escape their home's destruction. Sahagun chased them off and razed their city. They began to rebuild, in the process attracting the attention of the humanoids above. At first, neither side was sure how to react. The others didn't seem hostile, but they were strange. Soon though, the merfolk agreed to help bring up the ocean's bounties. They were vastly more efficient and bringing up pearls and fish, and they could watch ships from beneath to ensure their safety. In exchange, the people above shared the bounty of land with them and protected their cove.
