Description
Aurora wears black. And when she can’t, such as with the first-year uniforms, she makes it clear what she’d rather be wearing. Piercings adorn every facet of her face, some only visible through her black hair that often covers her left eye. As a dhampir, Aurora can turn into a bat, sleeps upside-down like one (on the occasion she sleeps at all), has an aversion to garlic, and must be invited into someone’s room before she can cross its threshold. She also gets most of her nutrition from blood, and has to take a daily nose spray to repress a natural vampiric bloodlust. On days she doesn’t take it, she skips class and isolates herself to avoid any ‘incidents’.Family
Her human mother was killed for her relationship with a vampire. Her father's brother, Dean Julian Valentin, raised her instead. Though the two share a mutual respect, Dean Valentin controls Aurora at her expense. He forces her into Strixhaven, Witherbloom, internships, and more, insisting it’s what’s best for her despite her own wishes for a career in music.

Show/HideAurora was housed in Krokt Tower with the F Squad, but her relationship with them started off poorly. She wasn’t interested in talking, didn’t vibe with Koss’ music, and attacked Mistake out of bloodlust on the first day of class. After an apology and explanation for the latter incident, things started to improve.
Having a dean for an uncle gave Aurora insight other students lack. She shared information about the corrupted eldritch balm and the danger to Shelley’s parents when no authority would. In her continued insistence to be involved, she effectively created the B Squad and got her uncle to revive two dead goblins without informing Captain Dapplewing.
Koss sought Aurora’s musical expertise when producing Lilith. Aurora served as musical director for the play, spending many late nights with Koss and Mistake. This deepened her friendship with the F Squad members and let her be recognized for her talents despite her uncle.
For the last months of the year, Aurora was in a relationship with Gary. He’d added blood-based food to the Bow’s End Tavern menu to gain her attention. On their first date, he stood up for her against her uncle, earning her respect. Aurora broke up with him at the end of the year, saying he was too passive and nurturing for her preferences. The changes to the Tavern menu remained.
Aurora’s involvement in the more dangerous goings-on at Strixhaven continued to strain her relationship with her uncle. The dean wanted her to stay safely uninvolved, while she wanted to help her friends and uncle in their important tasks. Knowing now that Aurora was the true target of the Krokt Tower chest attack, will Dean Valentin trust his niece to make her own decisions? Or will he continue to try to control her, even at the cost of their relationship?
