The Kagoma System
Our setting takes place in the Kagoma System, a complex star system centered around the bright yellow star Kagoma. This system contains several planets, moons, and asteroid belts, but a few key celestial bodies dominate the political and magical landscape:
Avalon: The cradle of civilization, home to the Empire, magic, and the birthplace of all imperial races.
Orpheus: A habitable moon orbiting Avalon, rich in natural and arcane resources, and home to the United Colonies. Here, Indents slave for the benefit of the Empire.
Tethys: A barren, uninhabitable moon of Avalon, used primarily as a military outpost.
Primus: The ancestral homeworld to the Dragonkin and the ancient Dragon Council, it is a primal world where the forces of nature reign supreme.
Oberon: Remembered as the stage for one of the most cataclysmic events in the history of the Kagoma System, Oberon now lies as a shattered, arcane-scarred wasteland, forever changed by the Empire's use of a great weapon during the First Crusade.
Nephros: A distant, shadowy planet home to the Neogi
Regions of Wildspace
The Kagoma System can generally be divided like so:
The Inner Expanse
The inner planets of the Kagoma system, and the home of the Empire. It is divided into Imperial Space, controlled by the Empire. Dragon Space, the known ancestral regions of space claimed by the first Dragons. And Cursed Space, a region long known for great war and conflict - much superstition surrounds it, and the Empire makes it clear to avoid the area.
The Outer Expanse
The abrupt severance of contact with the Outer Planets coincided with the activation of Merlin's Belt, a massive, seemingly eternal cosmic storm that enveloped the inner planets of the Kagoma System. Created by Merlin, the First Sage of Avalon, who channeled the Ley Lines energy to summon an impenetrable storm of arcane winds, gravitational anomalies, and spatial distortions. The Belt disrupted spelljamming navigation and rendered even the most advanced magitech incapable of crossing it safely.
Being isolated from the outer expanse, the only information the empire has is what little remains of old star charts - as well as celestial bodies that astronomers may observe from their telescopes on Avalon
