Kumi
Kumi is a nun at the Monastery of Aieda in the southwest of the Dragon Province.

Personal history
Kumi was born in the year 648 AR. Not much is known about her first ten years of life, but in the year 658 AR she was presented to Mother Mai and the nuns of the Monastery of Aieda. The nuns took her in and began to school her in the ways of the Light. Mother Mai noted that the man who presented her to the monastery was samurai, but he wore no identifying mon and refused to give any information about her history or lineage, other than to tell her given name and the year of her birth.
Immediately it was clear that Kumi was no peasant girl. She could already read and write and her calligraphy was exceptional. She knew the basics of the Tea Ceremony and her manners were impeccable. She progressed in the monastery swiftly and was a quick learner. They taught her all the things a nun should learn and she absorbed it all.
In the year 676 AR, at the age of twenty-eight, Kumi was sent on a three-year tour of the Dragon Province and beyond, as is tradition. This tour, known as Keihatsu, is standard practice for the nuns of the Dragon Province and is supposed to teach them about the ways of the world; its joys, pains, selflessness and treachery.
She took in all the sights of the Dragon Province, spending time in the city of Kyoto, visiting the Niten Dojo in Sapporo, and even going to see the High Druid at Akihabara in the north. Her Keihatsu took her from the ancient ruins of Nagano to the bustling provincial capital city of Kyoto.
She was on the road for three years and during that time her life experiences increased a hundred-fold. She was accosted by bandits, she met the Archdruid, and she watched the famous samurai of the niten dojo train. She tried all sorts of unusual foods she was not normally exposed to. She met people from all castes and experienced the way of the world firsthand, rather than in lessons. She made many interesting friends.
In 679 AR she returned to the monastery to continue her studies, now far more experienced and worldly-wise.
