West Rons
Adaptability and evolution are the only ways to survive during the Rocpocalypse. Perhaps no one understands that better than the inhabitants of West Rons. Where once beasts were looked upon and studied for entertainment, now a striving community dominates the region. The maelstrom gifted the diverse animals with increased intelligence and abilities to communicate. Led by a council of the higher-intellectual animals, the inhabitants of West Rons survive together by focusing on constantly enhancing the town.
The name "West Rons" comes from a human tribe who attempted to lay claim to the region early into the apocalypse. While the invaders were dealt with in time and the animals attempted to revert back to the district's original name, the majority of the Rocpocalypse districts still refer to it as West Rons.
The animals have attempted to allow nature to reclaim its hold of the land so foliage run amuck as much as it can in these dire times. Vines engulf old cars and traverse old lamp posts and strange new foliage make claim to abandoned homes and parks. Any cause of pollutants such as gasoline or plastics are strictly prohibited. While the water is not safe to drink, the animals have devised means to filtrate the water allowing for drinking, watering plants, and farming fish.
The inhabitants of West Rons attempt to be peaceful and have since resolved most conflicts with their neighboring districts. The cult inhabiting Group 14621 to the South of West Rons litters the highway dividing the districts with various offerings while the conquerors to the East in Irene's Decoy have since made peace with West Rons after months of battles.
Demographics
West Rons is inhabited by all manners of zoo animals.
Apes and other primates wield the most political sway due to their intelligence, physical capabilities, and ease of reproduction. Primates do a lot of the agricultural work alongside elephants and horses.
Elephants, sea lions, otters, ravens, and wolves make up the rest of the High Council due to their high intelligence.
Giraffes, zebras, horses, and rhinos contribute as working animals, used as transportation, construction, etc.
Tigers, lions, bears, and leopards work as border protection under the guidance of wolves.
Birds, snakes, lizards, and small mammals are used for recon and scouting by keeping tabs on or infiltrating neighboring nations.
Government
West Rons is run at peak communism. All the animals have their specific function chosen for them that helps keep the town stable. There is no currency, so any personal transactions are done through bartering.
Defences
The animals use rudimentary weapons such as bow & arrows, spears, and slingshots. Weapons such as baseball bats, hammers, axes, and staplers are less common. Any more modern weapons such as guns are more scarce. Armor ranges from wooden to handcrafted metal armor made from rusting vehicles. Animals such as Lions, tigers, and bears are used for most security while every animal type will contribute during times of wars.
A wall made from old vehicles, tree trunks, and old building materials surrounds the living area and some of the work areas of the town.
Industry & Trade
The society is able to survive on its own thanks to the animals willingness to work together. Farming is handled mostly by primates, horses, and zebras. Fishing is handled by sea lions and otters.
When other districts come to trade, the animals are able to offer food (in the forms of fish and vegetation) as well as information (thanks to the resourcefulness of their scouts and Elephant Historians).
Infrastructure
The animals of West Rons understand the delicacy of nature. Therefore, West Rons runs solely on renewable sources. Windmills and Watermills have been created to filter water and what crops they can harvest from the new foliage. Feces and most garbage is renewed as fertilizer. The animals have a center for meetings and most animals live close to what was once the Genesee River.
Beavers have constructed a dam and artificial lake to surplus clean water and hunt fresh fish.
History
The Event: After the event that spiraled Rochester into the Rocpocalypse, the animals struggled for control over the districts against forming human tribes. They were able to survive and outlast the other tribes by working together.
West Rons: Years after taking over the district, a new tribe emerged that challenged the animals. The animals were eventually able to beat them away, but the lasting impact of the tribe lives on in the district's unshakeable name.
Group 14621: Recently the cult located in Group 14621 has begun worshiping the animals of West Rons. While the animals aren't entirely sure where this obsession originated, scouts have found several murals within Group 14621 depicting animals that appear to be from the old age.
Irene's Decoy: The neighboring conquorer's of Irene's Decoy attempted to spread its influence into West Rons which created conflict between the group and the animals. After months of battles, the conquorer's of Irene's Decoy suddenly called for a truce for reasons lost to the animals.
Geography
The terrain is mostly hills interrupted by ruined houses and once-upon-a-time shopping centers.
There is a fresh water lake constructed by the animals close to what was once the Genesee River.
The Genesee River guards the back of the animals' town.
