Royal Library
Once a place of knowledge, always a place of knowledge. The Royal Library has transformed from a highly regarded university to the lair of mad scientists. After the out break, there were those who took arms, those who tried to rebuild society, and those became obsessed with learning what happened.
Wedgeward is an interesting district as it splits into two very different worlds. To the east are nice colonies who seem to get by ok, but to the west...death calling around every corner. All of the walking horrors that parade the streets of Wedgeward haunt the dreams of those who see them. So, why would anyone live to the west then and refuse to leave? The answer, in short, is because they are obsessed with learning exactly how that death came to life.
Those who hold up in the Royal Palace dance with death every chance they get, trying to get a better idea of such a horror can exist. The old university's labs have been rebuilt underground to conduct ungodly experiments. No outsiders no what goes on in those labs, but that's probably for the better. There is rarely can contact with the holding as they mainly produce for themselves. They life being left alone and prefer to keep it that way. Someone may want to check what they're up to though, before it's too late.
Demographics
Since the population is so small, everyone lives in the same quarters and eats from the same table. Wealth is distributed equally as it is not money that drives those who live here, it's knowledge.
Government
There is a single leader of the group and all else work under him. He is the main scientist who conducts experiments with the evil creatures that lurk the area.
Defences
There are a few scattered watch towers above ground that are are not usually occupied. Most all of those who live in the area are armed at all times. Although conflict is not preferred, it is used with great force when necessary.
Industry & Trade
There is hardly any trading that goes on with those who live here as they prefer to be left alone. They produce for themselves, but at times will communicate with others to trade of materials that may be needed at that time.
Infrastructure
Those who inhabit this area have had security measurements built, but they are minimal. Most of the structures in the area are worn down and decaying. However, he labs have been rebuilt underground and are now usable once again.
Guilds and Factions
Those who reside here are apart of no other groups or factions besides their own. Outsiders tend to stay clear of their sights as they are terrified of what experiments are going on there.
History
What was once a state of the art academic campus is now overgrown and decaying structures that show little to no sign of life. Research from some of the brightest minds in the area was once conducted in the labs that are now covered in dust. Thousands of people would travel across all paths of the area daily and some signs of that life can still be seen.
