Pitts, North
“It's not what’s above the water line you should be wary off, and not even of what swims in the
mire. It's what’s under all of that, that's what one should be wary off.”
-A word of warning concerning travellers to Pitt’s North.
Demographics
~35% Human: Garden variety human, but those of Pitt's North tend to have a dour look about them. Everything they say or do reflects this feeling of regret amongst the population, as if they had "Missed Something Great", right below there noses. The few who don't have such grim outlooks are often Swimmers, but it is not a guaranteed assumption.
~65% "Fishmen": A hearty group of happy folk (at least as long as you are far, far away from shame place), fishmen are used to being treated differently by those from outside of Pitt's North. But it seldom bothers them, a odd reassurance that everything is ok, here in the Pitt's North
Government
Local Council: Since each community may only be made up of around a handful of families (if not only one) most resident's of Pitt's North rely on each other to survive. And in this way, every voice within the Pitt's North is listened to, for one wrong move can be life or death in this strange world. That doesn't mean that there are not those who still wish to hold absolute power, its just much harder to do when the only thing separating the ruled and the ruler in Pitt's North is whose currently around.
Defences
Small patrol groups utilize guerrilla warfare to great effect in the Pitt's North. With a better knowledge of the land and how to work it to ones advantage, the denizens of Pitt's North use ambushes to great effect.
The Pitt North has always lied in its own defense, saying that their marsh is actually part of the greater fenfield marsh. They'll go on to say that their the only bastards tough enough to live there. And with the enlarged wildlife and dark mire of the Pitt's North, no ones bothered to question it.
Industry & Trade
The industry of Pitt's North is heavily based around fishing the over sized fish that have moved to the area through the Erie Canal.
The Pitt North conducts trade with its outside neighbors by utilizing the Erie Canal and the tributaries that have formed from it. Having once stretched from lake Erie to Albany and the Hudson River, what remains of the Canal is unknown, however it still runs through the Roc and is used for trade. However a small part has been partitioned off by the Bright, and needs to be forded by traders.
Infrastructure
Most of the Pitt's North has been left submerged, with communities focused around large stone buildings from which wooden shacks and causeways meander about. Most interaction between communities is done by boat. Reliance of water has even gotten to the point that levies, eddies, and canals have been built to help flood more of the area, in order to make travel easier.
An odd bit of infrastructure that is hard to miss is the large pump stations dotting the area, constnatly spewing out water from somewhere. They are always running, and always maintained. And those who have had the gall to pick at, let alone disrupt, the pump stations have always meet a grueling end.

Hi there! I just made a quick formatting edit to the "Demographics" section of this article. I also added a sentence that referenced the, "Swimmies," organization I made that resides in Pitts North. (My reasoning is as such; World Anvil doesn't allow an article to both be part of a Category and have a Parent article. The only way to keep my organization under the, "Organization," category and be referenced on this page is to include a link to it in one of the description fields.) If you have any concerns, feel free to message me!
