East Roc

East Roc is a quiet, not too densely populated area. It grew out of the pre-apocalypse Eastern Rochester area and adapted its name as such. It is mostly ignored and not easily accessible compared to most parts of The Roc. East Roc is home to the key holding, Wig Man's. The area consists mostly of faded, broken down suburban houses where nice families used to live. Plant life seems to have thrived better than human life. Many of these once living spaces can now be found overgrown with vines, weeds and other invasive plants. A dense fog can often be seen covering the streets. Some residents have taken advantage of the situation by using the plants and broken houses as hiding places to avoid newcomers or to ambush them when necessary. Between the wasteland that is Fenfield and the border-crazy Pitts North, the people of East Roc tend to keep to themselves. This sort of secluded attitude ended up attracting more peaceful survivors in the beginning of the apocalypse, which, as time went on, attracted more violent ones. Having no other choice, the people of East Roc were forced to establish a method of defense. A major blockade was established on what was once the I-490 highway. A wall of debris makes it at least difficult for travelers to get in. This also made Pitts North happy and led to a mutual agreement with East Roc to stay out of each other's territory. As far as they're concerned, East Roc has their borders covered, but it's not like that rule means much, people don't exactly listen to rules anymore. Many of the residents here are part of a unified community. A lot of them are old, and most of them care about reestablishing a society and making peace, but there are some extremists. These people believe deeply in the maelstrom and have faith in it as a being that brought them all together for the better. This is where the cult of East Roc came from. Those who think the maelstrom is in full control of their destinies reside in the eastern part of East Roc near the border of the desolate and abandoned rest of the world. They can be dangerous when threatened and will not always abide well with the instruction of the rest of the district. East Roc is not as dangerous as other areas, but when provoked, the people are willing to fight, they will have a deep cooperation and team-based strategy that may catch travellers used to chaos off guard. They do what they can to keep people out due to the lack of trust they've been dealing with for decades, but the deal with Pitts North can only last so long and the civil rivalry with their own cult only grows worse over time. On the edge of town a welcome sign remains. Though it is incredibly warn and mostly destroyed, one could still make out the words "the greatest little town in the world."

History

After the bombs dropped, the town was picked back up quickly by the survivors, over time the small town brought in anyone who had a peaceful attitude to begin a new society that could one day thrive. Soon after word got out, survivors went over to pillage the area expecting an easy fight. After a lot of failed battles and deaths they decided to become more defensive. The district became more militaristic and made a mutual deal with Pitts North to keep out of each other's areas. Fed up with some of the newly established rules, some members of the district gathered together to form a cult dedicated to the maelstrom, believing that "it" is the only thing that can truly control destiny.
