Char, The

The Char is a barren land located in the far north west populated with amphibious humans, roughly around 50. We can swim and breathe under the water by evolving gills on the side of our stomachs due to the massive flooding from a tsunami that came from Lake Ontario. Thus, the majority of the land is flooded and the only way to get through it is these massive boulders has washed in over the past fifty or so years. We use the lighthouse as surveillance to maintain watch on the districts next to us (Maplehood and West Rons.) Boats are required for travel for other people or if you feel confident enough, you may take the boulder path which is heavily guarded by our underwater friends. Another skill we have is telepathy with the underwater life so we can control massive fish to attack nearby enemies, communicate with us as people are arriving to the district borders and also surrender themselves for food.   Not much is sought after here, only the survivors who are in a tight community that parties heavily in their huts. The drug production (specifically psychedelics) is high here because we are able to have cooling systems from all the surrounding water. The visions that we see under water are so strong, we feel a deep connection with the earth and the district.

Government

Here, the government consists of a direct democracy where the whole population votes for what but basically we share what we hunt and produce. We are all a team.

Defences

Water is our best friend, it surrounds the entire district and we are the only ones that can also dwell underwater. The lighthouse is used for surveillance and a large path of boulders lead to the main hut which is protected by massive fish and other water creatures.

Industry & Trade

There is not much trade

Infrastructure

Due to the flooding, survivors have learned how to manufacture small floating huts on the water from all the driftwood from the lake.

History

Back then, the Char was an eventful area with beautiful scenery. But then when the bombs went off, it produced a plate shift underneath the lake and created this massive tsunami that wiped out the entire district only leaving the lighthouse.

Natural Resources

We harvest fish from the lake and seaweed from the surrounding water.
