Broken Bridge Bluff

At the edge of the Infinite Loop, looming over the fog rolling off of the Falls, stands the remnants of the old brewery that once resided over the western side of the Roc. A great, broken bridge that once stood tall now lies in shambles in the river below, a ruin of what it once was poking up from the fog that rolls off the water. This bluff mirrors and looks over the district on the other side of the river- Get High Falls- with a clear line of view of the Radwinks' holding, Frontier, and also makes for a perfect lookout point to observe the Infinite Loop from the Roc. Thus, Broken Bridge Bluff became the perfect spot to post up- a solid middle ground between two other mysterious and dangerous districts.

Those stationed here are responsible for overseeing the exile of other Rocers who step out of line, but are also the ones who are on the shitlists of the chiefs. Broken Bridge is a place that represents a western Rocer's last chance to prove themselves before being cast down themselves into that maelstrom they watch every day and every night, and yet has nothing meaningful for a lookout to redeem themselves with. If they still act out of line, then their fellow lookouts chase them out to the falls and the psychic storm- not buts about it. It's a screwed up formula; the lookouts here are either doomed to fail in the first place according to the standards of the chiefs, or are dragged in to the storm by psychically-induced curiosity. It's not necessarily a prison, but it's the next worst thing to exile for sure: a place for hooligans and disaster-cases to come to fruition and send each other off with bullets and broken bottles of booze to their doom.

If only the rest of the booze wasn't left destroyed or sunken in crates and kegs at the bottom of the river, this place wouldn't be all that awful to be stationed at... After all, there's nothing worse than waiting for nothing.

Demographics

The lookouts of Broken Bridge are rather limited, and are usually the lowest ranked troops of the west Roc and the ones serving some sort of punishment. The people posted here are usually young and juvenile, spending most of their time either bored out of their minds or looking for something interested to do while they're stuck stationed here. Everybody here knows how to fire a weapon and put up a fight, but have only ever really needed to use them in order to take pot-shots at whatever the hell stumbles out of the Infinite Loop. Everybody here is always hoping and looking for some form of excitement, almost begging for something strange and fun to shoot at comes out of the maelstrom or that they are allowed to throw an exile in.

Government

The main point of the BBB is to send the disobedient troops of the western Roc to be disciplined by their superiors and trained to face the eastern Roc. Rules here are enforced by a chief responsible for sending exiles, and keeps an eye on which of the lookouts should have the hammer brought down on them. For the most case, lookouts are not allowed to leave the site and must abide by their watch and patrol shifts, with separate lookouts for the maelstrom, for downriver, for the peak, and for the perimeter. Anybody else who isn't on duty isn't allowed to leave the outpost or do much of anything else, making their shifts the most interesting thing that happens in a day. Anybody that the chief catches acting irresponsibly is subject to exile- one strike allowed only for every person stuck here- and are allowed to choose whether to send them down river to 14621 or to send them up to the maelstrom falls.

Defences

Due to the natural vantage point of the bluff, Broken Bridge isn't highly armed or fortified. There is a single lookout tower that stands over the outpost, a small wire fence to keep things that get by the eyes of the guards here from getting too far without having to cross some barbed wire, and some mines that have been dropped in the river to fuck with whatever tries to cross over towards the Roc. Old barriers that would have kept vehicles from flying off the cliffs have been left broken and ripped off from vehicles that blasted through them at full speed, leaving some cover at the bottom of the river for anybody stupid enough to go jumping around down there. Additionally, lookouts at the bluff are equipped with several weapons of varying sizes and power based on whatever threat looms on the horizon. One old ship cannon was dragged up to the top peak in hopes of being able to use it on some terrible monster that pops out of the storm, but has never seen battle.

Industry & Trade

There is no industry or trade here, though the chiefs of western Roc do make sure to keep the outpost stocked with rations and equipped to defend against any outside threats.

Infrastructure

Much of the infrastructure of the bluff remains broken and in ruins, specifically the bridge that once connected the Roc and Get High Falls. Almost all of the operational parts of the ruined brewery that would have made it an exciting place to be have been shut off or permanently damaged- the silos, the hoppers, the bottlers, and so on. The only things here that connect this outpost to the rest of the Roc is a winding road up to the bluff.

Assets

Most of the equipment here for brewing is out of repair, and whatever booze might have been here has either been already consumed or left at the bottom of the river.

Guilds and Factions

There are no immediate groups within the outpost, although the troublemakers tend to stick together and try not to rat each other out too much when their shenanigans might get them all in trouble. You know how it is; snitches get stitches.

History

Broken Bridge wasn't always a place for disciplining Rocers. It used to just be a place where curious Rocers would look out on the rest of the rest of the apocalypse and admire all of the beauty of its annihilation. It wasn't until the rules and regulations of western Roc's social order became more solidified that the overlook was turned into an outpost to help ensure that exiles didn't try to sneak their way back into the Roc. When it became apparent that nobody willingly wanted to be stationed there, the chiefs had to find a way to ensure that the location was manned at all times, eventually deciding that the responsibility would fall on the poor fools that caused them the most trouble- the ones that they wanted out of the picture the most. Ever since, it has become known as a place where Rocers go to die of boredom and self-loathing.

Geography

The bluff looks over the old river and falls that drain down from the Infinite Loop, opposite to Get High Falls. The fog of the Falls rolls onto the river below and trickles downstream, and the cliffs on either side are left in shambles and ruin from erosion and explosives used in the past.
