The Ascended

Long before the fires of the Dragon Onslaught scorched the land, in the realm of Ro'Kroya, a tiefling warlock named Sakaravak walked the mortal plane. Possessed of an insatiable ambition, she sought to ascend beyond her mortal shackles and ascend to godhood. The Gods of Creation, Aaos, Mel-E'na, and Vedomma, had decreed that they would never create a being to wear the mantle of deity, yet they had laid no laws against a mortal ascending to divine status.   In her ambition, Sakaravak struck a pact with an ancient elemental entity, Namirooz. It was a desperate bargain, one that was steeped in treachery, for Namirooz betrayed and slew Sakaravak in battle. Her dreams of ascension were momentarily extinguished, and her spirit was confined to the cold embrace of her tomb.   Centuries later, a band of adventurers, driven by fate or chance, stumbled upon Sakaravak's tomb. Her spirit, restless and driven, proposed a pact. In exchange for her resurrection, she would aid them in their quest to defeat Namirooz. An artifact known as the Staff of Noch would be their instrument of victory and resurrection. They agreed.   With the Staff of Noch's power coursing through their veins, they vanquished Namirooz. In the aftermath of their victory, Sakaravak, reborn and reinvigorated, achieved her dream. With a blast of divine energy, she ascended to godhood.   But the world of deities was one of balance. The Gods of Creation, acknowledging Sakaravak's ascent, realized the need to restore equilibrium. In lieu of banishing Sakaravak back to the mortal realm, they each selected a being to ascend as Lesser Deities. These chosen ones would hold 'God-like' power, yet their might would remain under the control of the Greater Deities.   Mel-E'na, the mediator, chose Sakaravak as her lesser. Aaos, the stalwart, selected the wise wizard Noch, a figure renowned for his power and intelligence. Vedomma, the twisted one, elected a wicked entity familiar to all: the resurrected Namirooz.   Thus was the pantheon expanded, the balance maintained, and a mortal's ambition realized. Sakaravak's tale stands as a testament to ambition, treachery, and redemption, her ascension a mark on the annals of Ro'Kroya's history.
