The Bell Tower
The bell tower is the tallest building in Rime, rising slightly above the Bastion and containing the magic-imbued bells that are rung each hour to reinforce the Warding magic surrounding the city.
Purpose / Function
The Bell Tower contains the bells responsible for maintaining the security of Rime's Wards, houses the Cohort's most valuable secrets and records, and serves as living quarters for the Bell Ringers, who function in a similar capacity to lighthouse keepers.
Architecture
The Bell Tower rises a little more than six stories high, constructed in a gradually tapering cylinder. The lowest floors house the bell-ringers themselves, the center of the building functions as the Cohort's library and repository, and the top three floors are only a narrow staircase that leads to the bells themselves.
History
The date the bells were first hung in the Bell Tower is considered the offical founding date of the City of Rime.
