Frostfolk Marriage Vows
The vows taken by the Frostfolk during marriage are reflective of the values of their society.
"For the rest of the days we share,
You shall have the meat brought by my spear,
The protection given by my blade,
And the warmth granted by my cloak,
All of which are given by my true heart
And my undying affections,
In every night
And in every dawn."
The vows are given and recieved in synchronization, and the gifting of a small blade and a lit splinter of wood between each party seals the rite. The fire symbolizes the promise to provide the necessities of survival in the harsh lands, and the knife is a reminder that either of the parties now posesses the ability to severely harm the other by breaking their vow.
Components and tools
The participants each bring a small horn-handled blade and a fragment of wood soaked in pine pitch, after Starfall, this is usually Cinderpine. Whoever is officiating the ceremony is the one to light the wood tapers.
