Fate's Hand - A Frostfolk Belief

The Frostfolk believe in an overarching impersonal fate that rules their lives and destinies. While this belief is still extremely strong in the isolated areas of the Iron Peaks, where death is met with a solemn but accepting mantra of "fate's hand is at work", it is less firmly held in areas that have had more contact with the outside world.   "Fate's Hand" is a commonly invoked response to misfortunes outside of the firm believers. It has become something of a casual response to any minor inconvenience.    Firm believers, however, would consider it a slight to fate to speak of its actions in any more trivial instance than illness, severe injury, or death. To them, it is simply a statement of the acceptance of the world the way it is, that they cannot understand why this is happening, but trust that there is some distinct reason.

Variations & Mutation

The mantra is translated from an old saying common in the Speech of the Wind. In its original runic language it is said as Kathahar Mik Talek, literally "the work of the hand of fate".
