Direbay

Direbay is a large town on the shores of Lake Haven. It is located at one end of the trade route that connects Lake Haven to the lands of the east. The mix of cultures here is unique on the lake. There are many merchants who export the natural bounty of Lake Haven, or import manufactured dwarven and gnomish goods. There are also many who became dissatisfied with the more provincial life on Havenal and seek adventure, fame, or opportunity.
Direbay is a relatively lawless place and strong warriors are always in demand as protection. Being shipped off to Direbay is a common threat to misbehaving children.

Districts

The Heaths

This low-lying marshy area is the poorest part of Direbay. Some scrabble for sustenance by catching frogs, snakes, or fish from the many shallow channels. Others retreat here to hide from their demons, whether physically or through drug induced stupor.

Trade District

Many trading companies have their offices above their well-guarded warehouses in this area. There are large open areas for staging or receiving caravans, and many stables and hostlers do brisk business. Many merchants also have storefronts selling the wide variety of wares that pass through.

Meat Yard

Originally named after the abattoirs and markets serving the outlying farms, the Meat Yard is also home to the majority of Direbay's brothels, drug dens, and other less savory locations.

Portward

Portward is a busy district with fish markets and other boats transporting goods all around Lake Haven. Transport to Havenal or other communities on the shore of Lake Haven can be arranged here.

Spirit Ridge

This mostly residential district houses multiple communities, organized by either wealth or race. Coffee houses and gentler entertainments are also common.
