With the exception of Thi, all gods are mortals holding the extreme power of Thi, a Breath.
Gods are generously split into two categories: new gods and old gods.
Old gods were the first to arise after the death of Thi. How they accumulated their power is not well understood. In general, the old gods were more powerful than the new gods-- the death of an old god often led to the rise of several new gods.
New gods are any god that arose from the death of an old god, or grew to power after Calamity. As mentioned, the new gods are typically weaker, encompassing a smaller domain than their predecessors.
Although long dead, Thi and Solsyn are often still worshiped and prayed to for guidance. As the first god, Thi maintains a special distinction. And Solsyn is often viewed as the goddess protector of Rhina, besides being viewed as the most powerful old god.
While worship of some other old gods is present, the alive and present new gods command a larger following. The dead new gods are not worshiped.
