Breath

Originally referred to as sparks of creation, a Breathe refers to a source of magic that is linked to Thi. While typically an intangible energy, a Breathe may also be visible in limited circumstances.   As the original holder of all Breathes, Thi was able to create the planes and mortal creatures. In the creation of people, Thi gave the Formers each a spark of creation. This allowed the Formers to create new mortal bodies for themselves, even those that were not yet known. From the creation of the Formers came the diversity on Rhina, the elves, the sirbvae, the humans, and everything in between. Thi eventually reclaimed the Breathes from the Formers, removing their ability to create new forms; something new cannot be created without a Breathe.   At the same time that the Formers lost their Breathe, Thi distributed the godly power, bestowing upon every plane a portion of it. Thus, each plane contains a Breathe. Recordings of displays of the use of Breathes are carefully recorded, but many are simply mythos that cannot be confirmed. Still, it is suggested that when Thi distributed the entirety of the power, the planes received an unimaginably large amount of power, a power that would kill a mortal if they were to attempt to posses it.   The next group to hold a Breathe were the heroes of The Saefi War. This group gained the Breathe as Thi died, and this power was much smaller than that given to the planes, but still more power than a mortal had held before. More even than the Formers had possessed. It was the power to move mountains, to stop time, to create. This is perhaps where the power began to be known as a Breathe. It is said that the power left from the body of Thi when the first god breathed for the final time. The true story of the fight against Saefi is lost to time, but all stories point to the great power of the Breathe that allowed them to fight against her. When Pakpan succumbed to Saefi during the fight, their power was available to the mortals of Rhina, allowing for the old gods to gain power.   The old gods maintained power for the longest, filling the void left by Thi. But eventually, the gods began to fight. The mortals began to resent them. And the first god died. And with their death, the final gasp, the Breathe they carried within that gave them the power of a god, left. And became available to the next gods. While perhaps it would be appropriate to call this the Time of Gods, it was obvious the gods were not supernatural beings like Thi had been. No, the gods were mortals possessing the power of a god. So instead, it is the Time of People.

I like the idea of the power of creation being something that can be stolen and wielded by other beings, even mortals.   Also, a lot is going on here — it almost feels as if it needed to be trimmed short for the sake of brevity. I see many references and connections, but it would be easier to navigate if the text was split into sections with appropriate headers. I wondered if the power was diluted concerning concentration with each generation, or was it more complex? Is it possible for a mortal to gain enough sparks to make their bodies resemble gods and store more Breathe?   Concerning the power, is it possible for the world's inhabitants to gather the sparks by removing them from beings?
