The second-born prince of Westol, Medraut was born from his father's second wife after the tragic death of the previous Queen. Despite this, no resentment is harbored between him and Caradoc; the brothers are the best of friends. Medraut is a calm, amiable boy, with a quirky sense of humor and a tendency to get lost in his thoughts.

Medraut inherited much of his mother's features; a stubborn, square jaw and stern, expressive eyebrows are offset by his wide and bright eyes and slightly upturned, pointed nose, with a narrow-lipped mouth that spreads into an enormous, gummy smile at a moment's notice, crinkling his eyes into crescents and revealing a dimple in his right cheek.

Medraut was born two years after his father's remarriage, and it's said he came into the world silently, not crying at all, and with his eyes wide open.
This quiet nature continued his whole life, as he grew from a placid baby to solemn, wide-eyed toddler and into his young adulthood. He received lessons from the palace schoolmaster from the time he was six, and devoured books like a starving wolf. He also proved himself an adept horseman, and was Knighted when he was seventeen.
Despite that, he declared himself a pacifist not two months after receiving the title, and turned his attention to philosophy and music instead.
He volunteered for the exchange of princes upon the signing of the Treaty, unwilling to see his elder brother or their sister, six years younger than him, married off far from their homeland. Besides, he'd always wanted to travel.
