King of the Khrésyda Islands
Requirements
The King must be of the blood line of the royal family, have received his adulthood tattoo and at least two tattoos commemorating an achievement.
Appointment
The Elders of Khrésyda, including the High Priestesses of the Land and Sea, perform the ceremonial acknowledgement of the candidate's right to the governorship of their Islands, after which the King spends two weeks in secluded meditation before receiving the King's Mark, an elaborate ceremonial tattoo, the conferment of which is attended by every citizen of the Islands.
Responsibilities
The King supervises everything — the craftsmen, fishing masters, hunters, guards, and farmers all report to him and he decides which fishing grounds and plots of land must be worked that month.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The King's Mark, a tattoo that denotes his Kingship, is worn spreading from his hips to his sternum.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Should the Elders, Priestesses, and representatives of the people all agree that the King must be removed, he is to be ceremonially divested of the position, his King's Mark defaced, and he is set to the sea with nothing but what he can carry on the smallest of their boats.
