Session 1: Back in the Saddle Report
General Summary
The party, after discussing will at some point have to come to the surface. The moment they breach the surface they are going to hear a tussle outside. There, they'll be confronted with a scene of a small gnomish man being harassed by six galvas guards. Surrounding the area will be seemingly similar nomadic peoples. The guards will accuse the man of assaulting a Galvas member, and say that he'll answer for his crimes. Unless anyone does anything, the guard will strike the citizen with their sword, causing them to fall unconscious.
Whether or not the party intervenes they will hear a bark, and growl. This will spark the small wolf-dog that was nearby to start attacking the guards, seemingly to defend it's friend. Roll initiative.
After the guards have been dispatched, if the man survives he will tell the party how he used to be part of the few nomadic tribes that lived in the mountains, but due to the cold climate outside they needed to come to the city to survive. They brought most of their family but they weren't expecting to be met with such hostility. They're going to be leaving, but they can't leave with the animal they brought as the guards would recognize it immediately. They offer it to the party, as they are trying to escape the city before they are caught and killed.
What happens next will entirely depend on what the party wants to do and where they explore, but the following missions will be available:
- Still shellshocked
- Pyke, the owner of the exploding potion, is an old rat. If the party enters, Pyke will immediately recognize Harold, but Harold will probably not recognize Pyke. After any type of transaction occurs, Pyke will open up with "Hadn't your pee taught yas anything, open your glazzies feele". He will then ask the formal "rat introduction in Theive's Cant. "What hour would it be"
- To which the person listening should respond "It's just a bit past 17 and a half I think" noting the year at which the rats gained political traction.
- The final part shows their credence towards you, should they respond "Well what a fine hour then" it means they're still well with you, and there's no trouble. If they respond "That's a good time, but the suns too high/low" they are trying to signal that they don't recognize you, or that you haven't met. Lastly if they respond; "Fine hour, but a horrible crowd 'round here at that time" It means they're telling you to buzz off.
- If they can successfully communicate with Pyke, Pyke will open up that their shop recently had a tragic accident befall it, which means they're low on supplies. They will agree to help the rats again, so long as you can help them gather enough supplies to stay in business the next month.
- Scaredy Cat
- Feline Fletcher, owner of the flowing missile used to be a rat. If asked about "special sellers" or something similar, they'll ask "What time is it?", to which a similar response must be met as pykes scenario. (pasted here) To which the person listening should respond "It's just a bit past 17 and a half I think" noting the year at which the rats gained political traction. The final part shows their credence towards you, should they respond "Well what a fine hour then" it means they're still well with you, and there's no trouble. Lastly if they respond; "Fine hour, but horrible crowd 'round here at that time" It means they're telling you to buzz off.
- Fletcher will always respond with "That's a good time, but the suns too high", meaning that fletcher doesnt recognize the rats he's found. Fletcher is in desperate need of help as well. They will admit that they hadn't spent much time with the rats, but recently with their parents passing they've felt as though they have nobody to rely on. They ask that the party show that they can offer the protection and community people need in Dur.
- For Fletcher they need to strike a deal between Fletcher and Pyke to work on creating a new weapon thats designed to "fire" alchemical bombs at people. Fletcher describes it "like a crossbow but with bombs!". This will file into Pyke's quest.
- The Backdoor Board
- If the players are able to convince the bounty hunters to let them see the scrolls, they'll see that there are bounties on several heads within the city. Surprise! One of them is on Gotrek himself. The party will have to roll initiative as the barkeep starts asking questions about how similar Gotrek looks to the man in the scroll. As this happens, two Fusillian bounty hunters will notice the conversation, and unless the party is convincing, they will follow the party out and ambush them in an alleyway.
- The Red Board
- This board will always have a plethora of random junk on it, in particular though, there will be three bounties that stick out; "Constructs released", "Missing Persons", and "Bodyguards for Caravan needed"
- Constructs released
- Zach, at the smithy was infusing two animated armors, and an animated statue with rune magic. This was a relatively secret initiative brought forth by the Galvas family to help protect their property more. After initiating the ritual they broke free and ran off into the sewers, which means they have to be retrieved before the cause more damage.
- Missing Persons
- Deadeye needs assistance looking over missing persons reports within the city of Dur, specifically people in "the backdoor" who claim that their friends and family have been going missing after taking trips into the northern farmlands. One person has come back saying that they were hypnotized and got lost in one of the mountain trails. It's unsure what is causing the mysterious missing persons, but it'd be worth looking into.
- Bodyguards for Caravan needed
- A merchant needs to hire people to protect the trainlines to the south into fusilis, the job will be hourly and you'll be protecting magical weaponry and runes.
