Haerath Species in Renúdetla | World Anvil

Haerath

The Haerath are the largest breed of cat in the world. These six-legged cats, short-haired cats travel across the Wilds in prides of many females, cubs, and typically two males. Their formidable size makes them a considerable threat to other larger predators, and their bursts of speed and agility make them expert hunters as well. Furthermore, a few of the Haerath possess the ability to magically increase their stamina, speed, agility, and strength for a short period of time while on the hunt, or defending against another predator.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Haerath is unmistakable given it's size, and additional forelegs immediately behind the first pair. While running, the six legs work in fluid unison and give the Haerath the ability to jump incredible distances and rapidly change directions at top speed. The ears are not typical of other large cats, which are larger and taller by comparison. The 12cm claws on the forepaws make for devastating attacks and excellent tools for climbing, and latching onto prey.

Ecology and Habitats

The Haerath occupy the savannas of the Wilds and make their dens in rocky caves. One of the top predators of the Savanna.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Research into the social structures of the Haerath is unfortunately limited as it is difficult to get close observation of den behavior. However, what is known is that a pride can consist of as many as 15 or so females, the seasonal litter of pups, and typically two males. The males protect the den and pups while the females hunt during the cooler mornings and evenings. There have been reported sightings of prides with only one male, and some as many as three; however again little is known about the social behavior of males, or the socialization of adolescent Haerath due to no opportunity for observation.

Average Intelligence

Above average intelligence in comparison to other predators in the Wilds. Hunting strategies are often complex and rarely unsuccessful. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new circumstances.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Incredible sense of hearing, sight, and smell. Some Haerath possess the ability to magically increase their speed, stamina, strength, and agility by many times their natural ability for a short period of time.
