Actic Mortis

The involuntary condition of hyper exertion of every muscle in the body caused by a lethal consumption of Denami Serum. Over a short period of time every muscle begins to flex to their physical limit. If a Lytle Potion is not consumed, within minutes the victims body will tear itself asunder.

Causes

The only cause by natural means is a lethal dose of Denami serum. The amount of Denami required for overdose varies by species, weight, as well as tolerance. Many athletes, soldiers, and gladiators are capable of consuming what would otherwise be immediately deadly for most others. There are reports of spirits and magics that are also capable of producing effects that could be described as Actic Mortis.

Symptoms

In individuals with a tolerance to Denami, or doses that are just barely lethal, the onsetting burst of power is accompanied by extreme fits of rage.

Treatment

The only cure for Actic Mortis onset by a Denami serum is high doses of Lytle Potion. If none are available, if the leaves of the Lytle Flower can help stem the effect for a short while until a potion is acquired.

Prognosis

The body experiences a short burst of incredible power followed by eventual paralysis. The period of strength is also dependable on tolerance, species, weight, and dose. The victim begins to slow as the muscles begin to seize. Once the body is totally immobile the muscles begin to exhaust their natural ability for exertion. Beginning with the smallest muscles - typically the workings of the inner ear - tendons rip from their attachment sites, muscular fiber shreds, and if left to continue the body will rip itself apart.

Sequela

If a Lytle potion is drank in time, the body will experience incredible fatigue over the course of the next several days. Lytle potions or petals should continue to be consumed. Residual muscular weakness will linger for up to several weeks. If muscles had already begun to rupture before the antidote was administered, the recovery process will be extended accordingly.
