2020/01/26: Checking the Scroll and Searching For Soul Runes Report
General Summary
The party went to check in on the ever-eccentric (and frighteningly productive) Scotty McScottishface, the supernaturally effective Scottish engineer who they rescued from an Animus Society facility in the Eastern Realms. He has been "fixing" Pele's Scroll of Shelter for about a week with no supervision. Instead of a somewhat creepy mansion, the party found themselves in a complicated landscape with castles, a giant black hole in the sky, and floating islands (with more castles). There are spooky forests around the edges, and black and white lights streaming across the sky towards the black hole. The haunted forests are full of skeletons and the air is full of souls. The whole place is dimensionally twisted. The fear elemental butler is everywhere. The Scottish madman has only been here for a week.
In pursuit of a sandwich for Angus and some other shopping in Radagast, the party ran into Othar, Marius, and Starlight (separately), all of whom elected to join up. Starlight was accompanied by a creepy teenager in a lawyer suit. The teenager is named Torenon. Apparently he’s been a recurring villain for Pele and co., and is now on a redemption path with Starlight as his mentor.
The party made a detour to Alvidar to get a soul-sucking dagger from their last adventure destroyed. The clerics and paladins there were up to the task.
After some further downtime and discussion, the party embarked on a search for the soul runes to save Alvidar and defeat a dark god. While searching for a jungle-bordering fort that was supposed to have a lead, the party ran into an undead horde of three dracoliches, an undead t-rex, an undead ankylosaur, an undead brachiosaur, an undead allosaurus, and twenty four undead raptors. Naturally, this encounter did not end peacefully. (Shane was temporarily eaten by the allosaurus and Marius was briefly turned into a frog.)
With the undead destroyed, the party continued onward to the fort, which they discovered had been under siege by undead for some time. Apparently there are still two dracoliches out there somewhere...
