Guild of Smiths

The Guild of Smiths are another highly vital organization with Elysium. These are the brave people who not only work and shape the vast amounts of metal, but also collect the iron from the Surface between storms of Iron Rain. They provide a vast building resource and even the gear for Delvers and Enforcers.

Structure

The Guild of Smiths works on a system of Master/Apprentice roles. In order to become any role, including the Guild leader themselves, you must serve as an apprentice to a Master of that role for a set period of time as to where the Master acknowledges your skill enough to have that role. While it is not required, most members of the guild typically only specialize in one specific trade. While nothing prevents a member of the guild from learning multiple trades, you will typically only be commissioned for what you are best at.

Culture

Because of their semi-loose organization and "learn as you go" attitude, Smiths are fairly accepted by the general pubic of Elysium. They do realize the importance of their role, but it seems that the orangizational structure of the guild prevents elitism from forming too deeply. Masters of their trade do take great pride in their work, but they do not lord it over the other guilds or the citizens of the city. They are aware their position was earned through trial after trial, and know others can also obtain the same rank as them with a little luck and a lot of hard work.

Public Agenda

In general, Smiths provide the following Services:
  1. Collect Iron from the Surface.    2. Create necessary tools, building supplies and other good for the guilds and city.

Assets

Smiths are not exempt from any tax. The reason for this however is because they are in charge the goods collection process of iron and other metal materials and goods. When a Miner, Delver, or anyone else brings metal goods into the city, they are collected first. Based on what priorities are, they are allow to keep any resources for any outstanding projects or concerns for hte city and for projects they have. The one who collects it will of course be compensated and given priority, but that priority might be lower than others based on what is brought in. Rare resources should only be used for those who can actually use them, according to the Smiths.
