Physical Description
Rika is a rather tall harpy with gray and black feathering, and black banding on their wings. Typical of many members of Ferventi's following, they wear their hair mostly loose with a section tied in a loose horsetail or bun.
Typical of navigators, Rika wears a long black shawl made of knit fabric. Like many harpies, their clothing consists of many thin layers over top one another, typically being skirts, kilts, and robes or tunics with slots for their wings and tail. Most often, Rika does not wear shoes due to their talons and instead wears padded shin guards.
Mental characteristics
Rika is a
Navigator within the Montana Mountains sect of the Pack of Ferventi. As a navigator, Rika's primary duties involve charting the pack's movements in accordance to hunting grounds and the seasons as well as avoiding hazards such as bad weather. Due to the Montana Pack having lost their resident navigator a number of years ago, Rika has taken up that role themself, traveling with the group rather than staying in one smaller region of their territory.
The change in duties have presented many difficulties for them and their companions, the primary being that while Rika is very knowledgeable about their western hunting grounds in the summer time, they do not have as much experience with the pack's wider territory and seasonal migrations out of Montana. Weather in particular has proven to be an issue for the group since the loss of their prior navigator, who specialized in recognizing blizzards and safe shelter from storms.
Prior to working as a navigator, Rika did hold the position of a woodsman during their teens, primarily as a fisher and forager.
Social
Rather shy and softspoken, Rika doesn't often involve themself in conflict within their sect, and instead is often a quiet observer of their daily life. Most often, they are found working, resting, or charting the group's movements at their camp's fringes, though will oftentimes join the rest of the pack for meals and celebrations. As is common with navigators, Rika is typically only awake at night, resulting in further withdrawal from day shift members of the group.
Generally, they will hang around the camp's center during their downtime to work by fire light on weaving and repair of clothing, that is often silently gifted to members of the group. While some, such as Burke, will remark they are 'a bit of an oddball', they do maintain close ties with the pack and its members, viewing their well being as their duty.
History
Both long time members of the Montana pack, Burke and Rika have known each other since they were children and grew up together. They were both trained by their mentor, Markus, a senior member of their sect in hunting, foraging, and fishing in order to provide for the group as well as take care of their own needs.
The two get along rather well at most times, however, Rika does often display some annoyance at Burke's insistence to do the majority of hunting himself.
History
Ryoten and Rika met in 20009 when Ryoten joined the sect. Unlike Burke, who saw Ryoten as competition and began a rivalry with him, Rika welcomed him to the sect and the two became fast friends. Due to their roles within the pack, the two work together frequently and often collaborate in their work.
Rika also maintains a close relationship with Ryoten due to mentoring his son, Orion.
History
As the pack's primary navigator, Rika is responsible for guiding all of them safely and managing their movements throughout the year. Due to circumstances outside of the pack's control, Rika is currently the only navigator in the group, and began mentoring Orion for the same position.
Rika's mentorship started due to Orion's interest in the stars and night sky, with Rika indulging his hobby by teaching him how to navigate by their positions and seasonal movement.
History
A more unusual friendship within the Montanan sect, as to outsiders, Rika and Yosha often appear to barely acknowledge the other's existence, but are quite close in reality. The two often take part in more mundane duties for the group such as foraging, repairs, and tracking, isolated from other members.
