Elementals

Elementals are the varied Lesser Aberrants of the Primordials as a whole. While in the past, different regions and eras used different terminology to refer to them both as a group and for individual varieties, the modern era has adopted the usage of Elemental to describe all of them, adding what element they specifically are before the term.
Each Primordial has one variety of Elemental per Aspect. For example, the Primordial of Water has Ice Elementals and Water Elementals.
Whether an Elemental is classified as a Servitor or a Servant depends on both their cunning and strength. If they are mindless and relatively weak, then they're a Servitor Elemental. If they're cunning and powerful, then they are the more dangerous Servant Elementals.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Each elemental's body is entirely made up of their respective elements. Their form is also malleable. Some can choose to look like humanoids, but most don't bother.

Genetics and Reproduction

Servitor Elementals are born when enough magic is absorbed by whatever element represents the Primordials. This can be achieved through any number of ways such as magical accidents, purposeful acts, invasive cryptids wrecking havoc on the ecosystem through excessive magic use, or Servant Elementals spawning them through their actions.
The more dangerous Servant Elementals can only come into being by summoning them through the appropriate rituals specific to the individual Primordial.

Ecology and Habitats

Elementals thrive most when they are literally in their own element. Elementals of the Primordial of Earth are common underground while those of the Primordial of Air prefer the high skies.

Behaviour

From the weakest Servitor Elemental to the most powerful Servant Elemental, they all exist to spread the domain of their patron Primordial, regardless of the potential consequences.
This can be seen as a good thing when the Elementals of the Primordial of Wood attempt to reverse deforestation. Less so when Elementals of the Primordial of Metal wreck havoc to cities by spreading metals and other materials not considered natural without any regard for the humans living in those cities.
Elementals of the Primordial of Fire just want to see the world burn.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The distribution of the different types of Elementals will vary based on a country's own geography and climate. For example:

• The Middle Eastern countries with their sandy deserts have the greatest number of Sand Elementals.
• Countries near the North and South Poles will have more Ice and Snow Elementals than countries closer to the Equator.
• Australia with its hot and dry climate as well as its frequest bushfires is home to numerous Fire Elementals.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

An elemental can sense their respective element, and feel and sense through their respective elements.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Before the modern era adopted Elementals as a blanket term for the Lesser Aberrants of the Primordials, there was a huge variety of different terms used by Initiates of different cultures and eras.
Examples:

• Will-o-Wisps was used by Western cultures as an alternate name for the Fire Elementals
• Juhyo which was a term used by Japanese initiates for Snow and Ice Elementals
• Deluge as the name given to a monstrously powerful Water Elemental from Dawn War legends

History

There are many instances in recent human history where the actions of the Elementals are so great that the Censor treated them as disasters, natural or man-made.

1928 Film Noah's Ark Flood
The death and injuries from the flood was not caused by the uncaring attitude of the director (though it contributed and the Censor found it easy to place blame on him). Instead, Water Elementals invaded the set of the film.
2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake
There was never an earthquake. The tsunamis were actually numerous Water Elementals born due to a major magical accident.
2015 Mecca Crane Collapse
The sandstorm that led to the crane collapsing and killing and injuring hundreds of pilgrims there for the Hajj was caused by Sand Elementals.
2019-2020 Australian Bushfires
Fire Elementals are responsible for the worst bushfire season in the recorded non-Initiate history of Australia.
