Vostok Storage Complex
Situated on the eastern edges of Pervoshi, the Vostok Storage Complex serves as the pivotal repository for the Vostok Mining Company, a dominant entity in the mining industry. This expansive complex is crucial for storing the vast quantities of ores extracted from the extensive mining networks that stretch along the Messial Mountains.
The facility comprises several substantial warehouses dedicated to the storage of a wide array of precious metals including iron, copper, tin, as well as more valuable commodities like gold and silver. The latter are kept in much smaller quantities and secured in heavily fortified sections of the complex that function more like vaults than typical storage spaces. In addition to these, the complex includes specially constructed units made entirely of iron beams and panels designated for coal storage. This design is intentional, aimed at mitigating the risk of fire, a constant hazard given the combustible nature of coal.
Beyond its primary function, Vostok Mining Company also capitalizes on the available space by leasing sections of the complex to local enterprises such as blacksmiths, coopers, and carpenters. These businesses occupy smaller, separate shacks in a distinct part of the complex, ensuring a clear demarcation between the main operational areas and the rental units. This segregation maintains order and security, preventing unauthorized access to the critical areas of the complex. Despite the availability of these rental units, demand has waned over the years, leaving nearly half of them vacant or sporadically used to store miscellaneous items left behind by former tenants.
Security is a paramount concern at the Vostok Storage Complex, particularly around the main warehouses. The complex is well-guarded, with the company investing heavily in both human and mechanical surveillance. A number of Clockwork Automatons, a testament to Vostok’s wealth and technological access, are strategically deployed. These automatons are used sparingly but effectively, placed at key points to enhance the security of the facility and protect its valuable contents.
