Grum Jawbreak Jr, son of Grum Jawbreak Sr, is an orcish  ex - adventurer who now runs The Cock and Crown Inn in the centre of Matlock. Before retiring, he was a ranger and travelled with Valrus Strummington for a few years before inheriting his father's Inn when he passed away.

Personal history

When he was younger, Grum responded to an ad looking for adventurers in Ratbrooke when they had a string of crops wilting and dying unexpectedly and believed it to be because of some unknown evil. Also responding to this ad were a tiefling bard called Valrus Strummington, a human cleric called Dr Jim Dy'lldoh and a dragonborn barbarian called Nate Flamerogg. Together this group of adventurers went on a couple quests, slaying a dragon and defeating an evil sorcerer until eventually disbanding when Grum Sr passed away and Grum retired from his adventuring days to instead run the family business.
Now he enjoys a quiet life, well, as quiet as life can be sharing an Inn with Valrus, tending to his bar and serving travellers from across Winval, occasionally regaling them with stories from his adventuring days if he's had one too many dwarven ales.

Morality & Philosophy

Grum is a great example of an orc who has distanced themselves from the war mongering heritage of the orcish people. Having retired from adventuring in favour of a more peaceful life, not wanting to die young at the hands of some beast, he directly opposes the teachings of Gruumsh one eye, the evil deity worshipped by traditionalist orc clans.
