Ratbrooke

A small farming village in the centre of West Wival, Ratbrooke is a quaint little settlement made up mostly of wooden town houses with a small town hall in the centre. Compared to other cities standing around Winval, Ratbrooke is relatively new being only 370 years old, most of which has been spent fertilising and preparing masses of fields around this town to ensure it was sustainable in the rocky and dry environment it stands in just below the mountain ranges at the edge of forests.

Demographics

Ratbrooke is one of the most poor towns in west Winval despite it exporting masses of crops and farmed goods every year, this is because the central village doesn't see much foot fall and is only really visited by local farmers once or twice a month coming to make a deposit to the town bank or speak with the mayor or other similar menial task. The majority of the income goes towards improving farm land and upkeep of the farm houses that decorate the surrounding area.

Government

Ratbrooke has a democratically elected Mayor who has an office in their town hall. Ratbrooke doesn't have any local law enforcement but are protected by the Winval High Council and so have access to the imperial guard and can call upon the aid of neighbouring cities in time of crisis. This is partly because there is very little worth stealing in Ratbrooke that would justify the difficulty of obtaining it.

Industry & Trade

Ratbrooke exports lots of crops of corn, wheat, cabbages and other vegetables directly to Ironcrest where they are distributed to the rest of Winval via West Olkvast once they have been processed and baked into breads and other foods more desirable to the common people.
