West Olkvast

West Olkvast is a large harbour town on the eastern coast of West Winval. Popular among sailors of all alignments, West Olkvast is full of inns, taverns, trading posts where travellers from across the globe can spend the night as well as many warehouses and workhouses as many export and import companies own large portions of land in the city.

Demographics

Olkvast was originally a land locked human city before The Split of Olkvast but now due to the masses of trade coming in and out of the harbour, Olkvast's population is one of the most diverse in all of Winval. Inhabitants tend to be tougher than those from inland cities but are usually happy to tell tales of their sailing exploits for the low price of a drink at the bar.

Industry & Trade

All imports and exports in Western Winval pass through West Olkvast at some point in their journey as it is the main harbour town in that half of the continent. This is because due to the Split of Olkvast the coasts along the centre of Winval are closer to sea level and so ideal for large ports.    Due to the demographic of West Olkvast, it's main imports are dwarven mead and dragonborn Whiskey from Laerakond for the taverns and inns that line the streets.

History

Pre 0 ASO, Olkvast was a large, landlocked human city with large stone walls and a bustling market in the centre where the ancient cities would bring all their exports and trade to sell to people from all other walks of life. However when the continent was split in half during The Creation Story, the entire Olkvast society had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Because of this divide, modern East and West Olkvast are distinctly different culturally due to the environments they reformed within. West Olkvast for example re-established those ancient trade routes to earn an economy through exports and imports.
