Mother's Bounty

"Whilst we are all gathered here we should look around and feel the ground beneath our feet. The wind in our hair is home to the birds we hunt. The ground bares the plants and creatures whom give us their bodies so we may survive. We give them thanks by giving back to the Mother and our ancestors. Now, feast! Take your fill! We honor you Gaia and ancestors! Accept these sacrifices!"   ~ Archdruid Yun, Archdruid of the Mother's Children tribe

History

The tradition of Mother's Bounty was traced back to an ancient tribe during the Age of Umber. The tribe would not only sacrifice a portion of all their food, regardless of season and abundance, to their God. Many saw this as one of the reasons the tribe didn't survive the many wars for territory in the Verdant Jungle. Other tribes adopted variations of the rites to some degree. Some presented food to an empty spot to invite the nature spirits to join in the feast. Others left scraps strewn at the edges of their settlements to appease the local nature spirits.   During the Age of War the Sun Gazers, the parent tribe to the Mother's Children, first adopted an earlier and more primal version of the Mother's Bounty tradition.

Execution

During the harvesting season during the Autumn equinox a portion of the yield from the harvest and the hunts go to the Archdruid of the Mother's Children tribe. The Archdruid then starts to bless the food provided with sacred oils and minerals. After the food has been properly sanctified the tribe celebrates the Mother's Bounty and gives some of the food and drink to the spirit of Gaia and their ancestors as libation.

Observance

The Mother’s Children are the only tribes that observe Mother's Bounty. Other surrounding tribe have learned to leave the Mother's Children alone during this time due to retaliation they've received for disturbing the rituals or the offerings given.
