Blade of Usurpation

"With this blade I swear fealty to no one. With this blade I refuse to let myself be under the control of another. With this blade I will dominate the weak and cull the unworthy. With this blade I will usurp all kingdoms, even those controlled by the Bloody King"   ~ Oath of a Bloody King Paladin

Significance

The Blade of Usurpation has many stories surrounding this rusted longsword. The first stories attributed to this artifact are in correlation with the Fens in the Hinterlands. The stories say that the blade was wielded by the Bloody King whilst he was still in mortal form. His blade spilled the blood of nobles and peasants alike. Blood ran like rivers through the streets and soaked into the blade causing it to rust at an unnatural speed. When the Fens were cleared of all life the man sat upon his now claimed throne, placed the bloody crown he usurped upon his brow, and ascended to Divinity.   The Blade of Usurpation is said to be left on the material planes to coax others to do as the Bloody King once did and slaughter their way into power. Many believe the Bloody King sees the irony of ruling when he himself hated it so much. That is why he left the blade to ensure only the strongest can rule and maybe one day he himself will be usurped from his godly throne.   Historically, the blade has been in many different hands throughout history but none were more deadly with the blade than Welenar del Orlen. Orlen was once a naval captain in the Rutgar kingdom during the 53rd year of the Age of Renewal. Orlen came upon the blade when she routed and destroyed a pirate fleet in the Clumarian Ocean. The blade seemed uninteresting to her but she left it in her chambers as a display piece. Day after day the will of the blade started to corrupt her. Orlen's first act of corruption was the "accidental" sinking of her messenger ship HMS Wave Spliter. After that she started conducting more nefarious plans undermining the Rutgarian kingdoms dominion over the Clumarian Ocean. She was labeled a traitor and was hunted down by other naval vessels and bounty hunters. None claimed victory over her nor claimed the bounty before the fall of the Rutgarian kingdom. It is unsure what happened to her or the Blade of Usurpation.
