The Red Wastes
Geography
Red brick and wrought iron characterized the neighborhood that is now the rubblebelt just north of the Fourth Precinct. The dust and debris bear a distinct red color, giving the Red Wastes their name.
Because it was once developed land, the terrain is relatively flat. Jutting ruins and squat, crumbled buildings break up the dusty plain, serving as temporary shelters and meeting places for Gruul clans, dens for wild beasts, and hideouts for criminals on the run.
Prime Researcher Modar of the Simic Combine believes that long ago, this area was once a freshwater lake. He is currently heading experiments to study this hypothesis.
Fauna & Flora
Native lifeforms are hard and hardy. Small, sinuous creatures hide from thunderous birds of prey, and massive, lumbering beasts cause even the Gruul raiders to take pause.
Clinging onto sun-scorched concrete are thorny vines, small, woody trees, and tough grasses. They provide little in the way of shelter or nutrition, but life in the wastes has adapted.
