Boros Legion

Structure

The current guildmaster is the angel Aurelia. While a formal military structure exists, angels are the traditional leaders of the Boros. Their power and divine fury fuel the zeal and faith of most Legion members. An angel always outranks a mortal member of the Legion.

Public Agenda

The Legion serves as Ravnica's standing army. It is defined by the tension between its goal of establishing order and harmony and the fiery zeal that drives many of its members. The guilds stands for peace and justice, which can be established only through the rule of law. Its moral stance is fundamentally good, as it strives to protect the innocent and powerless from oppression and exploitation. At the same time, members of the Legion are passionate about their pursuit of justice, spurred by their righteous wrath into action against evil and injustice. When the letter of the law deviates from the spirit, most legionnaires choose the latter.

Assets

The Legion commands the largest military force in Ravnica, including the Parhelion II, a massive airship that serves as a floating military base. They posses the largest stores of weaponry and defense technology, and some of the most advanced as well.

The Boros guildhall and main garrison, Sunhome, houses the majority of Boros brass. They maintain other, smaller garrisons throughout the Tenth District.

History

The archangel Razia founded the Boros Legion. It was to stand as a bulwark against injustice and encourage a harmonious coexistence on Ravnica, even if blood was shed to achieve that.

Military

When Aurelia took leadership of the guild, she restructured the entire organization. Angel were encouraged to mingle with the rest of the Legion, though they retained their near-spiritual leadership roles.   Beneath the angels are the commanders of the four theatres and myriad garrisons. They command the captains, brigadiers, sergeants, and unranked soldiers of the Boros Army and the Wojek League, a combination military police and intelligence organization. The Wojek follow the same structure as the regular army, but independent of it.   Skynights are soldiers mounted on Skyjek rocs that act as aerial patrol. Most brigades contain at least one Skynight squadron. A Skynight who is also a member of the Wojek is called a Skyjek.

Theatre of Order

Aurelia believes the Rakdos an imminent threat and has dedicated this theatre to their clubs and incursions. She believes a task force is necessary to keep them from harming Ravnica's citizens.

Theatre of Integrity

The Legion has recognized the very real threat of Dimir infiltration. In response, Aurelia created this theatre to find sleeper agents and guild refuges. The Dead Brigade is a subdivision of this theatre that focuses on neutralizing spirits and undead.

Theatre of Fortification

Commanded by Tajic, this theatre's prime directive is to increase Boros weapons and battle effectiveness. The Warmind Initiative is a collaborative project between the Legion and the Izzet League to develop new weapons technologies. It reports to this theatre.

Theatre of Recruitment

This theatre's objective is to find and recruit new members to the Legion, specifically targeting the guildless.

Technological Level

Boros angels provide magical training not found anywhere else in Ravnica. Moreover, the Legion is constantly improving their war technologies. They pioneered modern airship technology, much to Niv-Mizzet's chagrin.

Foreign Relations

Boros View on Other Guilds

The Boros are committed to justice and order, and they are convinced that virtually every other guild is committed to undermining both. Therefore, the Boros rely only on their comrades for support and view everyone else with suspicion or disdain.

Azorius: "Legalism. Arrogance. Hot air. The law in their hands is a bludgeon, and they use it to seize more power than they deserve."

Dimir: "Snakes lurking in the shadows. They should be rooted out so they can shrivel in the light."

Golgar: "If they limited themselves to their intended purpose, repulsive as it is, they could be allowed to survive. But they are growing into a dangers menace, and we need to flush them out of the sewers while we still can."

Gruul: "They are lost in violence and savagery. Only occasionally can their energy be channeled in directions that benefit the greater good."

Izzet: "They don't understand the concept of limits. If they kept their spellcraft under control, they could truly benefit society."

Orzhov: "The Orzhov only care about the Orzhov. If it were up to them, all of Ravnica would follow and orderly process designed to funnel wealth into their grasping hands."

Rakdos: "They make destruction into a spectacle, but they're more than blood and fire. They're termites gnawing away at the heart and soul of Ravnica."

Selesnya: "I almost envy the naiveté that leads them to retreat into their little communes and pretend they've built a just society."

Simic: "They have stepped out of their place, with all their experiments, their tinkering with the nature of life. They're a waste, a drain on Ravnica, and a danger to the public good."

Trade & Transport

Boros soldiers often act as escorts and guards for transportation lines and warehouses. While not directly involved in the trade of much but arms, armor, and weapons technologies, they are aware of most everything travelling the city-world.

Education

The majority of Boros training is martial and/or magical, with limited studies into faith, meditation, and history. The rank and path of a Boros solider determines the technical expertise they acquire.

Infrastructure

The Legion commands and oversees the bulk the airship stations around Ravnica, and are responsible for whatever maintainence the Izzet do not cover.
