Orzhov View on Other Guilds
In the eyes of the Orzhov Syndicate, the other guilds primarily represent either opportunities for exploitation or dangerous threats to its way of life.
Azorius: "Their new laws challenge everything we know Ravnica stands for. If they will not protect the people, then we will do it for them."
Boros: "Though their structure is reasonable, they are naive in theur outlook on justice. What glory is there in risking one's life when work continues in the afterlife?"
Dimir: "It's hard to begrudge them their love of secrets. As long as they stay out of our business, we will leave them be."
Golgari: "Admirably resourceful and elegant, but tragically unhygienic. The swarmers may persist, as long as they don't try to force their aesthetic sensibilities on us."
Gruul: "They know nothing of order and dignity, and therefore they serve little purpose as an organization."
Izzet: "Combative and obnoxious. Their allegiance lies with no one, and their naiveté isn't worth our time."
Rakdos: "A necessary source of creativity and satire. Wit is a dangerous weapon, and their critiques speak to the people more than fear and surveillance ever will."
Selesnya: "The Selesnya are idealistic fools. Looking toward nature ignores the problems at hand in the civilized world."
Simic: "Their preoccupation with life disregards the might that death can provide."
This seems cool and accurate, I was wondering if it is allowed for us to have copyrighted content on here. I was thinking of making my own district for Ravnica since the book says there are many districts which were never discussed. I never did however because I was scared of getting my account struck and sued. Do you know anything about the laws regarding this and derivative work?
Sort of. Creating your own district *should* be okay because OGL. That might get a bit sticky because Ravnica is technically from a different IP, but the absolute worst case scenario is a cease & desist, not a lawsuit. I don't know if what I have here is okay, I just needed an easy way for my players to access the book information because this game is remote.
Oh I see, I guess it should be okay since they never went after the millions of different fan art projects. I guess that if I do it here on world anvil then at worse my account gets struck. I thought of getting a sage account and writing some homebrew for a bit of cash.
Charging for it def makes it different, but I am certainly not an expert. More research is probably a good idea if you're looking to pursue that a bit more in depth.
I figured it would be a smaller project, and I think it might be okay. I'll play it by ear. By the way are you inyo Ravnica? I wanna test my idea out.
What'd you have in mind?
I was thinking maybe a set of districts which belonged to the Simic Combine and Izzet league which sunk into one of Ravnica's oceans under the city. The site was home to some of the most bizarre experiments which were being carried out in secret, mostly having to do with bio research and cybernetics. After a great disaster which sunk these districts they were cordoned off from the rest Ravnica and various new guild splinter factions and even alliances between guilds started to form. I figured that the campaigns could be about either uncovering the secrets of what happened there and bringing it back to the guilds the players were a part of, or trying to get out if they were stuck there. I figured it could be like a cool post apocalypse sub setting inside of Ravnica itself, and I had various other concepts I could toy around with for mutants who have been altered by the simic, new water based gruul barbarians, mutated golgari, Azorius and Boros soldiers who are stranded there, and maybe even unguilded rebels who have made a few bases there. I also thought that an alliance between the simic an izzet would be fun to see, maybe some cybernetic stuff on top of the bio engineering, I even thought about various monsters such a fusion of technology could create.
