Personal history
The Selesnya believe that every natural life posseses a spirit. Mat'Selesnya is the natural leader of these because she is the spirit of the world itself.
After she signed the guildpact and her physical form was no longer needed, she withdrew into a grand oak tree that would, over the next 50 years, grow into the titanic structure it is today.
As part of Szadek's plan, he attempted to uproot her at the Decamillennial Celebration. Aided by the spiritual strength of her followers and protectors, she was able to withstand his magic and remains, albeit weak and slumbering, within the tree to this day.
