Dusk Elf
Once a powerful race allied with the Von Zarovich family, the dusk elves in Barovia and the surrounding lands were known for their skill in magic and long life. Things were largely peaceful among them except for a young man named Rahadin. Wishing for his race to take more after the militaristic humans of Barovia, he was exiled for repeated disrespect in 233 BC. Almost seventy years later, when the same ruler refused to acknowledge the rule of Count Barov von Zarovich, Rahadin offered to lead the attack and reduced the numbers of his own race to a single village, killing all members of the royal family except for Kasimir Velikov and Patrina Duskwalker.
As the Terg Invasion of Barovia raged, the dusk elves largely stayed out of the actual fighting, instead assisting those who stayed behind in safety. When Strahd von Zarovich had finally driven out the last of the Tergs, they created a village outside the town of Vallaki, hoping to use the surrounding woods and mountains to their advantage. They probably would've continued as they were if Patrina Duskwalker had not attempted to woo Strahd by teaching him forbidden knowledge. By order of her own brother, the remaining elves stoned her to death to prevent this, unaware they were already far too late. In retribution, Strahd sent Rahadin with orders to kill and kill he most certainly did. All female elves were slain and, in revenge for giving the order, Kasimir's ears were cut off. The remaining elves now sit in their small camp, passively waiting for death to take them.
