Lacie Pride is the first born to the Duke of Derbent. Raised to be a proper lady to represent the family, Lacie is both a gleeful example of the ideal royal, and the reality of raising a rambunctious young girl. Lacie took to her royal heritage like a bird to the sky, graduating from her etiquette classes with flying colors from her instructor. However, there was little to tamp down her inherent rebellious nature.
Although she can perform her duties appropriately, and sits through family functions with grace and care, she has a tendency to get distracted by her own whims. Whether distracted by a novel she had been reading, or lurking away from her sworn guards to explore the local village, Lacie's biggest problem was that although she enjoyed the authority she was a part of, she was often bad at following directions.
This was less of a matter when her brother was born. Although he is still young, at only six years old, it means that he is the rightful heir to the duchy. With no need to hold any formal authority beyond being wed to someone of an appropriate stature. In the meantime, she can be a dignified member of the family, serving as a functionary for any family events that require her, and to take care of her sisters and brother.
It's all just so boring though. All Lacie ever wanted was to be swept up by a gallant, heroic adventurer, just like all her stories promised. Shouldn't that have happened by now? Someone needs to hurry up all this Prince Charming stuff, because if she can't make her fantasies a reality, what is she going to do with herself.
