Londe
Londe is the capital city of Betbosen. It is also home to various Mage Schools, scientific centres and an ancient natural marvel of moss and rivers running through its streets.
Demographics
Londe is predominantly elven, with a notable gnomish population making up roughly a quarter of the citizens. About a tenth of the people currently in Londe are students from many walks of life, including foreigners - you're likely to run into at least a few dragonborn in the inner layers of the city.
Merchants make their way through Londe as well, so you might stumble upon a human or dwarf from the kingdom of Dermanica, or even a bugbear from the United Kingdoms of Gutt.
Government
In city matters, the mayor holds the most power. However, given that Londe is the capital of the region of Betbosen, members of the Council of the Archmages meet here on occasion for more trivial matters.
Industry & Trade
Londe relies heavily on its status as a culturally rich city, for its aroton shows and Library of Ecleqob. It earns a lot of money from travelers coming through and merchants setting up shop.
There is also a large community of marshland flarmers living in the outer layers. They used to grow many varied crops like cattails, water chesnuts and cranberries, but now, it is predominantly rice. The many mills within the city then make rice into rice flour, which is Londe's primary farming/artisan export.
Infrastructure
Londe is built on top of a convergence of three rivers. As such, a large amount of bridges, new and old, are used to traverse the city. Every bridge has a pair of lanterns on both ends. They are enchanted and light up automatically in the inner layers of the city, but they have to be lit manually in the outer ones.
Londe doesn't have a public skyport, but it does have a privately owned one - it can only house skyships of class 1 and 2, however, and docking costs 50 gold pieces per day.
There are two private wizarding colleges in the city as well, drawing many folks from different walks of life. There is also a Sick house, a traditional retirement home, an aroton and multiple small mills scattered across the rivers of Londe.
Perhaps the most well-known is the Library of Ecleqob, a large archive of valuable, old, magical texts. It is a very attractive stop for wizards and historians alike.
Guilds and Factions
Londe has contracts with many guilds that are in - The Swift Sables and the Striding Stallions, for example, both have official stations within the city.
History
The bridges in Londe were actually built centuries ago, long before Gnaritia was founded. However, it is unknown when exactly - using the arcane art of divination has not revealed anything beyond "a civilisation long forgotten."
Every now and again, a group of historians and/or archeologists set up camp in the outer layers of the city, but since historical research isn't incredibly well-funded, their time in Londe is short lived and their discoveries moot.
